ha, I'm not surprised. Most of the elektronauts forum has been having massive tantrums because it was late.

They are a really cranky bunch aren't they. Most of the threads are kids whining about stuff their Rytm doesn't do even thought its arguably the best drum machine on the market.

I love the thread where a guy is looking for a 24-bit amen break sample so he can try his hand at 'classic jungle'.

Or the countless times people just blindly insist that turning the monomachine's filter tracking off instantly makes it sound better so that's the first thing you should do..

there are some kit based hardware sequencers out there that can do that, i forgot the name(s) though.

how many CV synths are you trying to control? Midi-cv modules or standalone devices do the trick most of the time for me. The only time CV sequencing is absolutely necessary is when doing things like note slides.

so even with the bugs, is overbridge useable right now? Im mostly interested to hear what usb --> splitting of 4 clean audio tracks sounds like. Part of my 'issue' with the analog4 is that the synth engine is so powerful inside that you can make really awesome sounds that cant get very loud. Some of the best sounding drum patches i've made seem to be fairly quiet ( in comparison to the other tracks) and i haven't really found a way to boost the volume directly (just adjusting the levels of the other 3 tracks to match). Im mostly talking about doing melodic synth lines + drums on the A4, when i'm just using only melody or only drums i never run into this problem

USB splitting 4 clean tracks to Live is working fine for me but it's unusable in Renoise due to distortions and drop outs.

i'm glad overbridge is out so hopefully they can stop fking around with it & GET BACK TO UPDATING THEIR HARDWARE!

i think this whole overbridge thing was a mistake, to be honest.

really kicking over the whole hornets nest of having to now support all of these different daws & platforms thru all their updates/changes/bugs/conflicts. that merry-go-round never stops spinning.

they're a small company so you can really see how this has just sucked up all their time & energy. they are way behind in support & updates already,, can you imagine what's going to happen now when they get a new email every 5 seconds from somebody who cant get this thing to work in their ableton live project? what a mess...

I was actually really surprised how long it took the company to address and then fix (for a fee) my machinedrum which would not boot up. When I recieved the unit back I had to pay $60 (which i had no problem doing) only to find they did not screw down the lid of the machinedrum properly (it was loose and sticking up) and they somehow got a couple of large cat hairs lodged under the screen. Ive never had a professional repair company do a repair and send it back in such bizarre condition. It also took over 3 months

You are so right and this post makes me so sad.

I love my A4! so fucking sick

elektron are totally boss

i put it to them to make an elektron modular. its like an a4 but the machines are all modules inside and can be connected.

if it comes to fruition you can all buy me a pint

i just started really working my A4 today, shit! Basically im only using 1 track for all the drums and using parameter lock preset switching to go from hat to snare to bass. so fun

yeah yeah man!

literally takes 2 seconds to get something going. i just did a whole load of sound locks on some bass/noise/kicks, whacked it down to 1/4 speed or something, started tweaking and had insta IDM dubsteppy nonsense. not exactly what i was aiming for but some good stuff came out of it.

now the octatrack... ive had it sold it, got it back again, and it just collects dust. i really want to get into it but everything else is so much more hands on and i get results quicker. now i cant find the damn SD card to actually plug the thing in when i want to..

oh, just found it!

i normally vouch for Elektron quite heavily but i was shocked that a colleague of mine just got a brand new Octatrack direct from them, 2 weeks later his unit totally died inexplicably. Instead of offering to send him a new one to replace it they made him send it in for repair and its going to take 2 months. Kinda fucked up.

The only time something similar happened to me is when i bought a macbook pro 17" many years ago, the computer would not charge upon turning it on. Apple was very pushy and really wanted me to send it in for repair and I refused, after about 10 phone calls and a week they finally caved and agreed to send me a completely new macbook pro 17" to replace it. Companies don't like replacing defective products but they will under enough pressure ( for example, if this person started sending angry tweets to the elektron twitter they'd probably replace it within 12 hours)

ive heard a few stories elektron can be a bit funny.

you never know if its just forum speak or not

thats bad business practice if just 2 weeks old..

I've been doing this on the monomachine, it's a bit more elaborate due to not having sound locks, but I've got my drums down to two tracks; bassdrum/snare thud on one, and hihats/snare noise on the other. It might even be possible to squash them down into one track using the SID machine but that'd require some chiptune style techniques which might make the drums less punchy. Ultimately I'm aiming to fill my ES-1 with drum samples so all 6 MnM tracks can be melodies or dynamic percussion.

Got my octa sitting on my lap now. going to crack that badboy and then my music is hopefully going to gain +8 glitch points and some bonus IDMs
