vamos scorcho
Of course, if The Beatles don't want their music on my service, that's fine. But we'll have plenty of critics and users to follow who can lead us to NEW material on NO label... simply fan based support on esoteric bandcamps... that we will no longer need McCartney or Floyd. Soloman Tump
Complextro is where challenging music is at in 2012. Quote Complextro is - like the name - very complex build and aggresive electro-house with many variatons, that nowadays is influenced by dubstep elements such as the wobble, the robot growl or other basses. It´s mostly produced around 128 bpm (beats per minute). Many people confuse it with filthy, mid-range frequency dubstep (some call it brostep), which is produced around 70bpm or around 140 bpm (at halftime). autopilot
Quote Art is a tool that allows people to safely explore emotions in a consequence-free environment. It can exist in an infinite number of mediums. The most popular mediums today are music, cinema, literature, video games, and still imagery. A form of art that is very popular in Atlanta, where I currently reside, is food preparation. I was largely unfamiliar with art in that form when I moved here, but now I love it. True art has a message. It has an emotion it wants the listener or viewer or reader to feel. It can be verbal, nonverbal, or a combination of the two. Examples of verbal artistic expression would be literature, lyrics in music, or the dialogue in a film. Nonverbal artistic expression would be something like the combination of visuals and sound in a film, a painting or picture with no words, or a piece of instrumental music. At times it can dissonantly speak conflicting verbal & nonverbal messages to create a different nonverbal message. David Lynch uses this technique frequently in his work with non-traditional combinations of sound & imagery. Louis CK does this in the world of comedy with his messages behind the jokes (you should be a good person) being the opposite of the joke itself (the joke often is that he himself is a bad person that does bad things). Die Antwoord does this in music, using popular music styles to mock the cultures that celebrate those styles. Anyone can create art in any form, but the kind that’s most celebrated is art in which the level of craftsmanship is evident. This is art where the love of the artist for the medium is shown in the time invested in the creation, whether that time is the time it takes to create the work, or the time spent learning the techniques which led to the work. While art is entirely democratic, creating this specific kind of art takes discipline and the studying of technique. Being familiar with artistic technique makes people understand the messages of artistic mediums better. My favorite artists tend to be ones who are always open to learning more things, are experimenting with new ideas, and have extensive knowledge of the techniques in their respective mediums. Art is a balanace of innovation & cliche. Art that’s all cliche can be unmoving, while art that’s all innovation can be incomprehensible. Art that’s generated with the intention of mass consumption tends to be entirely, or at least mostly, cliche. Some art is entirely innovation, but generated with the intention of alienating the audience. This tends to only be cathartic for people who crave alienation. Sometimes negative energies disguise themselves as art so that people will let them into their minds & bodies. People inherently trust art, and so it tends to be a disguise that works. Advertising disguises itself as art all the time, or uses cliches from the art world to manipulate people in a specific way beneficial to the advertiser. A vast amount of art is unfortunately extensions of egos in the form of media. A trained mind, however, can see the intention of art clearly, as art by its nature is really bad at hiding its intention. If you’re familiar with different kinds of cinematic art, then you can easily see the influence of Hollywood studios in certain movies, or see when the filmmakers are making a bold statement, and what that statement is. If you’re familiar with a wide variety of music and the ways in which music can express emotion, then you can hear when a musician has created something out of an expression of an idea, or a love for a sound. You can also hear if the song was created purely to gratify an ego, achieve popularity, or make money off a trend. Certain music of a variety of styles has always sounded unpleasant to me, while similar music of a very similar style has not. I’ve always wondered why that is, and I think I’ve finally figured it out. It’s the intention. Being a prolific musician myself, the music interpreting aspect of my brain can tell when a song was made out of love for music and a desire to express an emotion, or when the music was made because the creator thought it would make him money and get him laid. It’s blatant all over the music. Some people take it upon themselves to be curators of art. They could be museum curators, film & video game collectors, or record collectors & DJs. They tend to be true enthusiasts of their medium of choice and my favorite ones are the ones that work out of pure love for the art. I feel that it is evident when this is the case. Audiences gravitate toward art that speaks to them at that moment in their lives. People living in a shallow, ego-driven state will most enjoy music, cinema, & literature created in that same state that expresses hedonistic emotion. People who are wallowing in the depths of sadness will feel most at home listening to Elliot Smith’s works. This same idea can be applied to people who are content, energetic, euphoric, or any of the plethora of verbal & nonverbal emotions that exist and can be expressed through art. http://v-a-x.tumblr....35966284801/art Edited November 19, 2012 by autopilot Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/76520-what-does-challenging-mean-as-it-relates-to-music-in-2012/page/2/#findComment-1906534 Share on other sites
