I traded for one of these about 6 years ago and lately I've been using it to use open-tuned guitars as reverbs - feed an aux out into the guitar input, and then feed the output of the guitar to an aux return through a DI (or a miced amp).

 

Basically the same thing Marf is doing but for guitars specifically it seems to work better than the bone-conductive transducer I use for other non-guitar objects.  I've even used it as an in-line effect on monosynths before.

Got one of these at a thrift shop for about $10 a long time ago.  Routing can be a pain since it's not meant to be used in parallel on an aux send (no full-wet setting) but it sounds great.
