happy new revolution 'round the sun

My new year's resolution this year is kind of weak --get back in touch with what's going on in modern popular music. I have no idea what I'd be listening to if I were going to high school right now, though i have a much better idea of what I'd be listening to in the 60's or 80's. I like Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes, and other than that I think all the popular artists I'm into were mainstream artists in the 90's as well. Maybe some of you highschool watmmites can help me out here. Keep in mind I'm one of those old music cynics who goes "this sounds like ___ who was doing this back in ___ but with that trendy new production thing that's all the rage now." I may just be incurably bored with song focused popular music. But I'm hoping that isn't the case.
