I've always felt rock has lacked female singers - I always get annoyed when I hear a song and expect either a falsetto or female vocal and instead some monotone guy yelling. Like the Killers, fuck that guy, he just sings the same note at different volumes. I can't help but suspect that such frontman are egomaniac assholes who can't let anyone else in the limelight.

Can't stand riot grrrl, but Bikini Kill is a much better feminist punk band (lyrically and musically) if you haven't heard of them.

I do like what Bikini Kill I've heard, tried to listen to Bratmobile years ago and it didn't do it for me (the name is awesome though) - I find riot grrrl admirable in ethos and all but I'm just so hit-or-miss with punk anyway.

Sleater Kinney were great. That's as far as my riot grrl knowledge goes!
