Charlie and the Chocolate Factory style - a small bite: i.e. 10 seconds max each day so that it lasts until the next album is ready.

I still don't get the appeal of vinyl. Seems archaic and excessively costly. I harbor a suspicion that advocates of vinyl are just afraid of change, unwilling to accept their multi hundred dollar turntable was replaced by cheap and portable digital.

Sure digital is quantized and analog is not but quantized to 320 000 discrete samples per second is one of those "as x approaches infinity I approach not giving a shit" things.

Ae wants you to hear surface nose but I call hipster on that.

AE's stance on that has changed. They just want you to hear the end product since Quadrange times, regardless of delivery method.

Re. the Charlie + The Chocolate Factory style approach as mentioned above, am I the only one considering only listening to one CD's worth so I can save another disc's worth for when they announce the next release? Probably not gonna make it but meh

In a pitch black room lying on the floor in the middle of the room, with headphones.

Digital until I get the cd delivered. Then probably 50/50 cd&mp3.

I have some Ae on vinyl, but I typically don't get the vinyl unless it's my absolute favorite release by an artist.

At home vinyl. Otherwise the mp3s. Digital lossless files usually take too much space on my mp3 player and I can't hear the difference anyway with the earbuds or from the laptop headphone output. Also nowadays I only buy CDs if it's the only format available and then I'll just rip the CD.

For a real answer, vinyl when I have access to my player. Otherwise the lossless files on my PC and mp3s when on the move.

Will buy Vinyl + WAV/MP3

MP3 on phone/ipod;

Vinyl for turntable and for the physical package, and the rush, adaptation and general backwardness of the act;

Lossless on my computer (converted to ALAC, probably); and

I'll burn a disco compacto for mi auto.

Similar to my plans, which involve three days of self-flagellation and self-acupuncture followed by a further tens days of isolation within a subterranean, anechoic bomb-shelter (which is also where I will listen to the album after the 10 days are complete). Only imported Tasmanian rain water and plain Serbian Yak's milk yogurt shall be consumed during this time of cleansing.

Think i'll order flac or wav, the first listen will probably be in bed in darkness on headphones

Preordered vinyl today. Hoping to listen to each of the four discs at a time. Repeating the first disc and moving to the next disc once I'm ready and this:

I pre-ordered the CD version, but really that's just for my shelf... I'll be listening to the included MP3s probably with headphones in bed in the dark (same as Oversteps)
