I was actually in a pretty good mood when it happened. Like I said, I used to live in NYC, for 12 years as a matter of fact. I'm VERY used to walking on crowded sidewalks and "brushing elbows". It's usually no big deal. I have never, in my life, felt the need to stop and confront someone over it.

This guy actually steered his body in my direction, tensed up his arm and jabbed me with force and the weight of his body, as if to try to knock me off balance. Like I said, we were the only two people on the block and he could have easily avoided me. When he elbowed me, I was actually in the process of making more room for him on the sidewalk.

I'm truly not exaggerating.

If you saw the look on his face, you could tell he wanted the confrontation, not me. He was very pleased with himself.

Also, he definitely did not apologize. If he did, I would have accepted it and moved on, even if he was smug about it. Honestly.

If I ever brush elbows with someone, even if all I feel is clothing, I'm usually the first one to apologize, even if I know I wasn't at fault.

Anyone could tell the difference.

The fact that you are so decidedly sure that this guy was in the right frankly makes me angry and it makes me doubt your intelligence. You're also basically calling me a liar.

 

I really try to be nice, considerate and accommodating to people, in everything I do. I never get in fights.

Unfortunately, I truly believe that there are more people like this guy in this town than there are people like me.

I don't know about LA or New York but it's pretty standard behaviour in every city in the U.K for people to do small things like this to upset other people in the street and their personal space.

 

 

 

most of the time it's not to start a confrontation it's just the twat in questions way of gaining a small little vengeful victory to cheer them up and experience taught me that it escalating from a small little dig to a confrontation started by either party is the exception not the norm.

In all seriousness, when assholes do this, they're not looking for a fight. They're counting on the fact that they're so alpha that when they elbow you, you won't say a fucking word because most people pussy out and stay silent when a confrontation such as that arises. It's kind of this arrogant mentality that they can walk around and fuck with people and that they're untouchable and/or invincible. Happens a lot in my town.

It reminded me of when I was a freshman in high school. I was a punk metalhead with long hair and every now and then, the jocks would knock me into the lockers to show how tough they were and to get a laugh from their friends.

Tell me about it. I definitely like the east side way better. I just had to go there (is Fairfax really the west side?) to catch a movie that was playing at the silent movie theater.

If I didn't have such a sweet deal on an apt in hwood, I'd want to be east of Los Feliz. Echo park is definitely more my speed. I dig Mexicans. They are chill and eat good food.
