Guest RadarJammer
computers make it easier to just flip through one amazing soundscape after the other, always looking for the one that feels "right" instead of just taking something and bringing it down the rabbit hole. at least thats my biggest problem Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/77476-technology-versus-creativity/page/2/#findComment-1943570 Share on other sites
Cryptowen
Whatever medium you work in, devise an incredibly narrow framework for yourself, then seek to understand its potential & stretch it to its limits in all directions. And once you feel you've exhausted this methodology (if you ever do), use your findings to move forth in some new direction if the advice of others offends your soul or stifles your creativity, pay it no heed. The internet's mostly talkin piffle mosta the time Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Cryptowen's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/77476-technology-versus-creativity/page/2/#findComment-1943582 Share on other sites

soundwave
if the masses are getting the same tools and are approaching music in the same way then a lot of the same shit will be the result people should stop emulating their hero's to look cool and think out of the box and try to fuck about with stuff in different ways which I think is harder to do with software which these days new designs just give you something trendy made easier rather than giving more possibilities in a more intuitive way but sadly that's what the masses who want to sound like Skillrex (or whatever his name is) was the TB303 designed for weird acid squelches or a cheap bass guitar emulator for your session player? was the Akai sampler designed for chopping beats into granular style fx? people need to get their hands dirty an innovate to stand out imho but with this in mind I think the next wave of innovators will be a more the mature artists who've had to get past the the pitfalls of fashionable genres Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/77476-technology-versus-creativity/page/2/#findComment-1943821 Share on other sites
sweepstakes
Best WATMM thread in some time. Great posts all around. Yeah, that shit was awesome What's stopping you from going back to this process? Maybe not with Stomper but say with some drum synth plugin and a DAW? Hell, maybe the Fruity DrumSynth and piano roll?
