awepittance
Hi watmm, i just spent a bunch of time and energy doing promotional blasts for various upcoming releases and in doing so I realized just how much I've omitted or neglected regions of the world that aren't white. I wouldn't say it has been overtly racist of me, it's just far easier to find contacts (mostly in english) for other places. I want to change this. I've heard of thriving scenes in various countries I'm about to list but don't really know how to find an online or other presence. This is a call out to anyone who knows of press, radio or blog resources in Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea, Lebanon, India, Iran, Turkey, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam, Pakistan, Burma, Panama, Peru, Venezuela, Columbia, South Africa, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Ethiopia and any other obscure country you can think of that has interesting music resources.Any help appreciated. And just so this doesn't seem totally self serving, adding to this list could just be a valuable resource for music fans in general. edit: If someone reading this is a blogger, press or radio person living in any of these countries please say hello in this thread! kichiguy
There are no blogs for experimental sounds in india (that I'm aware of) since there's virtually no scene for that kind of music here. The closest thing would probably be wild city which occasionly covers 'edm' gigs and releases, but that's mostly restricted to club sounds. Im honestly curious to know how many RlR releases you've managed to sell in india. Raves are quite a global phenomenon, and there have been healthy and unique dance music scenes and genres in the developing world: baile funk in Brazil, kwaito in South Africa, dancehall in Jamaica, etc. These just often don't have much in the way of physical releases nor a lot of aspiring producers, as they are really heavy on DJs and their sound systems as outlets for music. So they're not really oriented toward experimental nor "bedroom listening" electronic. On 1/27/2015 at 9:53 PM, auxien said: Some very cool stuff here. Curious to hear some music from those areas. I don't what it is about Russia but I've noticed they have a pretty healthy electronic producer community in just about every genre. Japan is similar in that regard as well. They are different though...this sounds so stereotypical / un-P.C. but Japanese producers and scenes tend to emulate and elaborate really well, often in a very clinical and precise manner. Russians almost sound like they are reverse-engineering it to their own regional styles (especially with future bass / uk garage...guys like Volor Flex, VVV, Ghostek are all very Burial-esque but with enough of their own twist to sound unique). It's often more "rough" and less subtle in sound...i.e. kids with pirated software and downloaded samples.
