zkom
I would like to have more analog delay / reverb gear. So far I have Doepfer spring reverb and BBD (and the Korg Monotron Delay which is way too noisy) in HW. A tape delay would great. I'm using VST for that currently. Would love to do some recordings with it now. 2) A mint condition reel-to-reel My grandparents used to have this 60s/70s era Kimball organ with a built-in drum machine I loved playing with when I was a kid. One of these days I want to either buy one or sample the sounds with a nice digital mic. Lot of wonderful lounge-y kitsch sounds. I'd love a reel-to-reel for hi-fi recordings but for now my 3-head cassette deck does the job. If you want a more vintage "lo-fi" reel-to-reel goodness you can pick up a transistor tape recorder off ebay or shopgoodwill.com for $20 or so - they're reel-to-reel but portable. I got one like this for xmas. Ugh that thing is beautiful. How were the drum sounds? Could you program loops? I had a similar tape recorder, but the tape was so badly worn out. The warble made everything sound like water being gargled. Is yours any better? The warble made everything sound like water being gargled. Is yours any better? Nah, they were just straight loops in different "styles" in set tempos. Baldwin and Hammond were among other organs from the same eras that had these. A lot of early drum machines, like this one, were in fact organ accessories. It was pretty common novelty before more advanced drum machines (Linndrum, Roland's models) came out. Even this Kenwood receiver had one built-in! http://youtu.be/kxNuherd_P0 As for my little reel-to-reel that's actually why I like it - I like to get the really hissy but warm sound out of it. It doesn't warble, but if I want real wow-and-flutter I record a sample to cassette and then mangle that a bit and play it through a cheap cassette player. The best vintage high quality tape recording you can get that's not a refurbished or mint condition reel-to-reel based is using a well-built 3-head cassette deck and Type II or Type IV tape (chrome and metal respectively). Type I tape is more common and entry-level but I've read good vintage copies of those are still pretty good for high-quality recording, especially bass-heavy music. vamos scorcho
lucky man! the m1000 has some of the most beautiful lushness i've heard, as well as its own eerie character. it is needed. the sound is certainly one of a kind. however, the programming, from what I've heard, is a pain in the ass. anyone have word on the Nova being worthy of purchase? I like the sound and frankly I find the design sexually appealing as well Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/77640-what-is-your-dream-gear/page/3/#findComment-1994121 Share on other sites

I'm using MidiQuest XL (os x) for programming. I can get patches, edit patch that i loaded but save it only on local drive and if I wish to load it I need to move every parameter slide so it gets updated in the machine. yes, a bit hard to program. But if you're only after the sound another alternative is to nab one of the new Mininovas as Novation have just made a free soundpack of the original Supernova available as a free download for that synth.
