If you could only ever drink one type of alcoholic beverage again...

So I'm currently tucking into a bottle of vodka for the first time. Whilst I'm enjoying it, it's certainly not the first choice of tipple that I'd go for. So whilst in a tipsy state, I've asked myself the question "If I could only ever have one drink again, what would it be?"

Personally I have a strong love for anything that's ale, stout, cider or Scotch (neat Jager on a hot summer night is also lush), however I think that if push came to shove, stout would probably win the contest. I'm mad for anything bold and strong tasting and stout (not Guinness Draft) usually fulfills on this promise, although extremely hoppy beers come a close second.

So WATMM, try to convince me that I'm wrong. Feel free if you wish to turn this into a classy + tasteful thread where you recommend / review your favourite or latest tipple, I'm sure that either way this thread will aide Boomkat​ my academic research greatly.

I had to go with scotch. I'm operating under the assumption that all kinds of scotch from all over Scotland, single malts included, would be available, and that I wouldn't have to stick to one particular scotch forever. If it's like just red label or something then I'll go with me own piss thanks

There's a BIG difference between real cider and most commercial ciders!

Real cider will be 100% fermented fresh apple juice. Anything else typically comes under fruit cider, which really is a marketing tool of putting forward alcopops in a more 'posh' and trendy manner.

Yes, I couldn't be cruel enough to make someone make this choice and force them to only drink Famous Grouse for the rest of their days.

I love rum as well, but if I had to choose my vote goes to stouts & porters

Also I'm liking the fact that stout and scotch are way up in the lead compared to the other choices. WATMMers have class!

I drink more rum than anything, but taking the question literally, probably red wine because of the pleasant, warm wine intoxication, and it's health benefits.

A stout is an ale. I'll say ales. You can homebrew pseudo-lagers anyway.

Indeed it is. However imo Stout / Porters are very distinct compared to other types of ale. Most ale drinkers I've ever met have a strong aversion towards anything that's porter / stout related, hence why I placed them in a separate category.

I'd be fine being limited to drinking a velvety Oregon Pinot Noir for eternity.

Really though I'd probably go with a nice 12+ y.o. Irish like Midleton. Voted for bourbon since that's my cheaper go-to option nowadays. Also enjoy rye and Canadian (also not on list)

The only Irish Whiskey you can seem to get in the UK is Jamesons, which imo isn't exactly all that. However, just for you Bob, I'll add an option for you to express your love for Irish Whiskey

probably beer honestly but i went with bourbon whisky because it would forever get me trashed when necessary. i get used to beer eventually, and we can't have that if we're going with 'only one type ever again' or whatever.

i don't know what lager/ale/stout is (we call it beer). but the thought of never having a first beer of the evening after a long day again is certainly not nice. otherwise i would have picked wine. but beer is just too confortable to give up.

I love the shit out of Ale but I had to vote for scotch. I'm not always in the mood for that flavor but it gives the best buzz and least shitty hangover.
