Waldorf Rocket Synthesizer

To be fair the description on the Rocket page states:

'It's incredible sound is much more

louder than the legendary Saturn V engine, and never before has this
been achieved with such an enormous fun factor. It features an analog
multimode VCF with lowpass, bandpass, and highpass, resonance up to self
oscillation and beyond, a powerful monophonic oscillator section with
Ultra High Density Sawtooth and unison for chord play.

I'm always completely amazed by how poorly these companies really understand their customers.

Honest marketing to no-nonsense well-informed consumers would plainly state the synth's attributes right up front.

Like, in the first line.

Instead we get three paragraphs of hype.

Oh, its warm? It's got a tremendous fun factor? That's great. Now please confess the pathetic manner in which the oscillator is generated.

ya and it's completely standard language too. The Shruthi-1 kicks this things ass in every department. Especially in the marketing department.

They should not allow people who do not understand the product to market it. I'm sure this was written by a just-graduated marketing girl who the company hired like 2 months ago.

weapons of mass destruction

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

seems to not sound bad really. Just really badly marketed. That chord function is goofy, but maybe might inspire some nice usage form it's shear strangeness.

I have to say, I'm warming to the idea of this synth. Doubt I'd jump on the band wagon straight away but maybe a bit down the line I could see me checking it out. Refering the Shruthi comparisons, I have a Red Alert version and I think there is enough difference between them that they could play nice with each other.

Yes, just wanting to clarify if the oscillators in the Rocket are in fact DCO or if they are actually digital.

Nevermind, this is claiming that they are in fact digital oscillators.

Okay, so a Juno would be DCO (as in digitally-controlled analog osc)...?

And something like the Prophet 12 has digitally-generated osc...?

I think colloquially the distinction has become partially obscured and DCO has come to mean pure digital instead of stable-tuned analog.

Definitely DCO is often used to describe fully digital oscillators, but that's not it's actual meaning.

Anyways, I'm not meaning to be a word jerk. I just wanted clarification as it seemed like a lot of physical oscillators for the price.

No no, word-jerkery is needed in times like these.
