I really don't "get" battery. it seems useless to me. it takes a long time to set up and then there is no sequencer so its... idk. who even uses it?

you're obsessed with soft samplers having sequencers

i can't remember ever using a soft sampler with a sequencer

which ones have sequencers?

Yeah, I don't really get Vamos' point either? If you open Battery in Logic, Ableton, or whatever then you're basically opening it in a sequencer.

Lil bummed not at least switchable to polyphonic. Arturia hit the mark with me on their Mini because of this feature and the (mostly) fully featured modulation matrix.

oh well. New Battery looks nice and slick with the newish GUI.

Yeah, I kinda know where you're coming from, but at the same time it comes cown to how "authentic" you want the emulation to be. As for the Arturia clone, I dunno, never sounded convincing imo

as far as emulating the 'moog sound' I never felt like any of these modern software emulations get even close to the level of Moog-ness Vaz modular had over 10 years ago. Fully polyphonic also

1. idrum

2. ultrabeat

3. fxpansion guru

all of these allow you to pull midi sequences out of the sequencer onto the track. the way I work this makes it much easier and adds a whole different dimension.

I HATE SEQUENCING DRUMS IN THE FUCKING PIANO ROLL. not as easy to edit velocity, etc. whack as fuck. if there is a way around this then ok but I don't know it... numerology or osmething

have you tried using the 'drum' mode of programs like Cubase? It's not a piano roll and you can very easily edit velocity.

I'm looking at it now. I don't have cubase I would like a better solution. seems like there should be one somewhere

I hear ya, man. Personally, I just do so much non-grid sequencing that an x0x-style sequencer would not work for me ATM. But if I was making a house record or something then I can totally see how that'd be great.

every few months i look up the Bram Bros' stuff to see if they started making Mac programs (not iPhone, they have those but i hate the fucking iPhone) out of the old stuff like Hammerhead and Moonfish. but never. one day i'll just get Windows on an emulator or some shit.

what i'm getting at is i miss their programs!

no it doesn't. i run reaktor 5.8 just fine on os 10.6.8.

it's sort of a pussy move on NI's part to release commercial Reaktor patches which you aren't supposed to modify or re-distribute a modified version. I mean i'd like to see whatever legal wording comes with one of these products like the Mouth or whatever, because at a certain point when you've fucked with a patch enough when does it become 'yours' ? It just doesn't make any sense to me, the Reaktor Player thing is cool because you can't edit it, but it's irritating that stuff like Electronic Instruments is copyrighted. I understand that they are a company that needs to make money, but to me doing that runs counter to the whole philosophy of a program like Reaktor, either lock the whole patch (release a player version) or don't release it at all if you have a problem with people toying with the insides of it. Hopefully eventually they understand the importance of great patches like the ones in Electronic Instruments being valuable pedalogical tools for musicians everywhere.

all of the Electronic Instruments patches are fair game now that they are released with the factory library but they were all designed in Reaktor 4 and haven't been checked for compatibility, Atmotion for one doesn't seem to work properly in R5. NI are shit at checking older ensembles in new builds, the number readouts in Snapper and a few other instruments are invisible since 5.5 for example (multi text boxes don't show the text when the panels Y size is less than 10 or 11 px now for some reason). NI have a bunch of farts coming out of their asses when it comes to Reaktor.

didn't know those were fair game now. but the mouth and the finger and stuff aren't?
What about atmotion doesnt work in R5? I'm curious because that used to be one of my go-to effects, but haven't used it in many years. What i did notice is that Akkord and Fast-FX don't seem to work properly, or at least certain versions of them don't. Akkord for one would have some strange midi feedback loop issue where it would just keep playing back chords even after you erased it. Fast-Fx just seems to not work at all on Reaktor 5
