Autechre - Webcast #4 (downloads here)

Recommended Posts

Just biked in to say, brilliant! Getting the new links now…

Heard an excess of mp3 bubble artifacts in the “official” DLs and was like, hey

Just exceptional watmming here, all.

Nice - definitely worth doing right! I'd be interested in comparing your recording/extract against the one given to JR, as the latter is not without its idiosyncrasies - I'll hide my ocd observations in a spoiler tag for the courtesy of the few non-ocd people here:

Interesting, compare away and let us OCD folk know the results!

Great job J-Don, your rip is as clean as Stoya's whistle! :whistling: These are the ones you want folks. Hi fives all around (followed by hand sanitizer)

Excellent, thanks for confirming!

yeah the recordings hosted here on watmm have some corrupted bits, noticed that yesterday.

i was fearing jason's uploads were transcoded (yes, ocd), but said nothing since its such a great effort and delivery

thanks for sharing the extracted-from-flv versions!

there is a big difference?

Yes and no. Basically our man jason  got a better capture of the stream than mixlr did themselves. The latter mp3s have a number of sync errors / digital glitches throughout whereas his do not.

Was listening to the semi-official WATMM download of the first webcast as I went out for lunch today and noticed a big glitch somewhere around 90 minutes (probably the one that someone else said halted playback on their fb2k).

Then I come here and find the latest files, right on time. Thanks a lot jd.

Great idea with the google docs file. Looks familiar! ;) (I created this one way back: http://bit.ly/ae-ws-20100302 )

I have some suggestions for your version:

  • Use the name and protect range feature to lock your two header rows from editing by public. That way random people can't sort (and fuck up) your sorting. I've locked my top row from public in my tracklist file. Should've done that a lot sooner. Normally public users can only edit everything below the top row.
  • Make an additional tab for the second broadcast. Two broadcasts in one tab is asking for trouble.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've just locked the range, and I'll start shuffling the second broadcast to a separate sheet.

And yes, I totally stole your format - hope you don't mind. It just seemed appropriate as it did the job very well for the last webcast.

I'm hoping someone can help me ID a few tracks from the 2nd Webcast of the weekend.

The Google Docs spreadsheet doesn't seem to list anything past the 4 hour mark for that mix, either that or it just ain't working on my computer.

Could anyone tell me the names of the tracks that come in at the following times;

8 hours 38 minutes

9 hours 13 minutes

9 hours 20 minutes

9 hours 32 minutes

All of those refer to Webcast 02 (03-04/03/2013).

Thanks in advance.

Sean emailed me to say that they too discovered the blips in the MP3s from Mixlr... not their fault - the only thing they can surmise is something with Mixlr's archiving feature when the MP3s were generated...

Still, we have Jason's which are perfect!

Nope, nothing wrong at your end - the second half of Webcast 02 has barely been scratched. I just added in Saafir's 'Crawl Before You Ball' (tune!), but everyone feel free to jump in and get spotting!

Just for the record guys it has been me that has spent several hours over the last 2 days restructuring and tidying up the tracklists after they got broken by idiot(s) unknown, and before JasonDonervan split the files (good idea)

I also managed to find some new IDs along the way using my sleuthing skills.

I have the advantage that I am off work due to illness but still have my mental faculties.

here is still a lot of work to be done, all help is welcomed I'm sure.

Jason I would ask it would be useful to have 2 copies of "extraneous data" also (one backup, one live), as I was deleting lines from this section when I found the right place for them in the tracklists. Pertty much everything in this sheet is in there somewhere.

And if anyone here goes all the way back to the IDM-L days Hyperreal all that, then yes, I am _that_ Steady J.

man this second webcast is so nice. the first one was way more electro and the 2nd is much more hip hop. I'm wondering if they each took one. if so, I'd guess rob had more to do with the second one?

both are good but the 2nd one is right in my wheelhouse.

Yeah see I'm just the opposite. Not heard past first half of night 2 yet (been too busy with the tracklist for night 1 mostly) but the half I did hear was great , but not so far up my street as the more electro and rave based night 1.

Horses for courses.

Thanks for all your efforts on the tracklists, it's greatly appreciated. I've duplicated the extraneous data sheet and left one open as required.

I'm just piping in a lot of track information from other sources for webcast 02, minus timing - but that can be added as and when possible.

I'm backing everything up frequently now, so all the data to date is now safe.

since you've put the diligent efforts in after a troll fucked it up, has the alternate (splunder remix) of AE's rendition of Surgeon been put in there yet? I'd love to get a rip of just that song, as far as im concerned it was the only new exclusive autechre that did anything for me. Im not really that excited by the alternate bike or that unidentified incunabula era track they played at the very end

That Surgeon remix melted my balls. I'd never actually heard the original before but immediately recognised it as AE. vproc and I were kinda losing our shit over it in facebook chat.

can't wait to get to this!

Long-time lurker, newly registered. Just checking in here first of all to say thanks to jasondonervan for the effort involved in this. Much appreciated! I missed the first broadcast as it went out but had a great time with the second (I'd basically forgotten all about 80s hip hop, and have ended up voraciously tracking down some of the artists referenced. That Fat Boys bassline, christ!). Eventually had to get some shut-eye at midnight, then got up at six to go to work. As my brain got started it occurred to me that the webcast was still going on, so I had my cornflakes to Zapp & Roger's More Bounce to the Ounce. Excellent stuff. /dull story

Don't forget the extraordinarily long (35 hours) xltronic.com webcast, unless that one's regarded as an exception for whatever reason. It's on archive.org and I was going to post a link; I see now it's also in the Downloads thread.

Maybe jazz (lotta threads goin’ on), but the gdoc tracklist was just linked in Warp’s official news post about the release of Exai and webcast wrap-up. Stellar watmming guys
