Also I think Annea Lockwood is the only field recordist out there who specializes in river sounds. If you're curious about underwater sounds, check out Jana Winderen's work.

aah yes i like jana winderen's work alot but not quite what i'm looking for, after more stuff like lockwood's hudson river recordings.

I thought about it, haha. There is also Dan Gibson's Solitudes LP series. I guess Environments served as the impetus for that.

If you avoid Gibson's New age records, his field recording stuff is quite pleasant. I'm a sucker for that early mind music type of stuff though. Moods Gateway put out a bunch of it too.

Environments wins for sheer weirdness though. Not much ambient music comes close to Tintinnabulation from Environments 2 for me.
