So Google Reader is being discontinued.

Can anyone recommend a good reader for iOS? I tried feedly but I don't want to log in through google for it.

Try Pulse.

I tried Pulse, but it was too hard to see everything at once - had to keep switching categories constantly. Feedly is more intuitive, IMO. I LOVE the flick upwards to go to the next page instead of scrolling.

Opera's new mail client with RSS reader is good, the browser however is not

Older reader is fine. You can log in with google and it looks the same except green.

Opera apparently just updated to version 15 and has abandoned their Presto engine in favour of what Chrome uses now (forget the name)...

indeed, that's why I don't like Opera any more although they are still continuing support for Opera 12. it's called Webkit
