Girl trying to get her surgery funded

yeah that's a weird thing to latch on to. i just want to see some medical evidence that she's sick. it's not difficult to be specific, especially when you're asking for money. i could definitely see coverage being an issue given how terrible america's health care system is, but her whole story reeks of bullshit.

i can't check out her pages since my vpn is not working for some reason. Metal poisoning from metal stuck in the body doesn't usually happen, or is very slight. Do they talk about how the metal got there? If she says it was left in from a previous surgery, I call bullshit. Metallic hospital instruments are all probably non-reactive with human tissue. May be uncomfortable, or even life-threatening if left in the wrong place, but probably not toxic. Millions of people today are left (intentionally) with metal in their bodies, including me. It's not all titanium; some is steel, etc (my shoulder plates and screws are steel).

 

What did they do, leave a hunk of lead in there?

 

Also the idea that the toxic residue would be "removed" from her body seems suspect. I guess she's talking about kelation, but I don't think that really works. The only way for the body to get rid of toxic metals, really, is just over time, naturally...afaik

in other words, I call bullshit too. Also she was too kindly to sue for malpractice, but sued her insurance instead? What?

so it could be either malpractice or maybe it just didn't show on xrays and stuff and was only discovered later (im not sure if it's possible, just speculating) or maybe it was too dangerous to remove it at that time (although she should have known of it and explain it to donators). that can explain the trouble of suing for malpractice.

Yeah she could avoid all of the suspicion and speculation if she would walk everyone through the details.

Guys this is obviously bullshit. Look at all the details. It is very shady.

 

There are SO many missing details. How about the date of the accident? Maybe the # of the court case? By the way, I searched the Cook County Records for a case involving a "Chloe Sagal", and I got zero results. It is possible the case didn't happen in Cook Count though.

 

How about you make your facebook profile public while the fundraiser is going on so people can see that you are being honest?

Why didn't you give us the details of the type of metal that is poisoning you?

Are there not detoxifying procedures that could help keep you alive for a while as your body fights the toxic levels of metal? (Sort of like in Iron Man 2)

Why are you continuing school when you only have a year to live? I imagine if you are estranged from your family that you are taking out loans for school even though you are going to die? That doesn't really make sense.

From my short time browsing toxic metals on Wikipedia, most of them seem rather rare, and not the type of thing to get lodged into you from car accident. Granted, I'm not an engineer or a doctor. She says IGG took it down until should provided proof via documents which let her bring it back up. I can spare a few bucks. I've given to bums for less, I can spare for this.

 

And if she is a con artists/scammer she can still keep my money. It isn't easy scamming that much money. I'd be more happy if she were a scammer taking my money then if she were a sick person who needed it.

The American healthcare system is absolutely whack, and I can easily see someone being refused vital treatment.

 

BUT: I find this whole thing really suspicious. I have a good bullshit detector, and this is is setting off all the alarms.

 

-The reluctance to share relevant information, the second unexplained surgery. Her life is on the line, right? Why not give us the relevant info? Are we supposed to just take her word for it?

-She didn't sue? Really?

-The dodgy story. "Metal Poisoning" does not work like that, unless she got a piece of a poisonous metal like cadmium or lead lodged inside her and that's rather unlikely in a car accident.

 

I don't care if she seems manly- maybe she's trans, so what. But the story does not add up. I'm fairly confident this will turn out to have been a scam.

the only thing one needs to question is whether that indiegogo site is credible enough as they sort of vouch for her by restarting her campaign, and it looks to me like a serious enough joint with some experience with this stuff.

I'd say that's a pretty ridiculous conclusion to leap to based solely on the fact that she "looks masculine" or whatever. There are any number of reasons why she might want the money. It might not even really be about money. I'm sceptical of her story but making this about trans stuff based on her appearance is, well it's dumb.
