Very quality detuned pads by Sun Ra in this awesome track. Also nice lydian intro echoing Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Pads from about 7 minutes on.

of course there's not gonna be an exact match but i think the basis of RDJ's 'new' stuff is coming from 'freestyle' aka 'latin hiphop' from the 80s.

and of course Mr. James is probably the greatest composer in our current time so it's not fair to compare him to anyone.

OST to Der Amerikanische Freund by Jurgen Knieper, strings sounds very aphexy and are quite often all phased out, great ost overall, lots of nice string drones

thanks to a lot of the contributors in the song I managed to put together this very long track that includes quite a few classic electronic songs mashed up/cut-up/melodynized into a Tussish style

the whole album off Acroplane should be available in a couple days!

note: the only sounds that appear in here NOT sampled from a pre 1985 electronic song were the breaks, which were sampled from song of the tracks discussed in the RDJ break/sample spotting thread. The 'Quick Culture' sample is probably easiest to spot appearing around 9:55 onward, the other ones are a little more obscured and manipulated.

sampled the following:
