Due out last month, but we’re still waiting on some vinyl.

Coming Friday May 17th at 11:59PM Pacific Time, Attacknine will be re-issuing Freescha’s “Kids Fill The Floor” in an Expanded Vinyl Edition, Limited to 200 pieces.

I think long-time fans of this record will find the additional material very interesting, especially if you know the nooks and crannies of the whole album. I had forgotten about a lot of it, and it was a pleasant surprise to stumble across when I was going through all of the old audio for this re-issue. Additionally, we were able to press the 12” at 45 RPM, so it gets even more interesting if you play it back at 33.

 

A big THANK YOU! From Attacknine to Eric Adrian Lee for his hard work on the layout and new designs, and for all his tireless help in making this package come together.

 

I do want to leave you with one more thing. Working on this re-issue also brought something else out of the woodwork, and though I don’t want to say a new Freescha “album” is in the works per se, there is something new that is being worked on that no one has heard before, for maybe a late 2013 release. Depends on how quickly things come together. But I am doing my best to see that it is realized before the end of the year.

It's quite a boring cover, and reminds me too much of Kids Fill the Floor. But hopefully the music is good.

So Freescha announce a release, which is a pretty rare thing these days, and all you guys can do is complain about how boring it looks? Only at WATMM can we have such first world problems.

I'll say this - perhaps if you guys knew what this is, you'd have a different outlook on it.

Er, only two party poopers on here complained about the cover, the rest of us are stoked as fuck! I like this image (dunno if it's a cover or not); it seems an apt visual match for their sound.

Maybe the Mayan calendar was signalling the beginning of a year of great album releases. 2013's certainly delivering.

You're right. I was just getting a bit uptight is all. I knew it was a reissue for KFTF and was sort of hoping someone would deduce that themselves, but I wasn't about to come in here and blow the surprise, when it was and is Nick's news to give.

I guess I feel a bit frustrated when I see every single new Attacknine announcement (since I've been involved with the label, starting in 2007) be met with "Yeah, well, it's not Freescha", and then when something Freescha DOES come out, people still have something to gripe about. I don't think this would upset me nearly as much if a) A9 were not one of my *favorite* labels of all time or b) A9 were a bigger label like Warp with lots of money and mainstream appeal.

I mean if anyone doesn't already know, Attacknine is Freescha and Freescha is Attacknine. Everything they release is independently funded by the guys themselves. That's what makes it sort of a more sacred thing to me, esp. when they go through a labor of love type thing to do a vinyl reissue of what many consider to be their greatest musical moment (personally, I'm torn between KFTF and WCIOY), which is pretty much squarely for the fans. So that's why I was all "You guys should be thankful" and not "That's boring", and I apologize for barking at people on the internet. It happens more often now that I have a 1-year old cutting molars...

Also, since the cat is now out of the bag, I can defend my love for that cover a bit more specifically - the photo was taken by Nick's grandfather or uncle (I can't recall which offhand) and it was an actual mountain sunset out in the California hills, which sort of makes it magical to me if you consider just how pretty and almost fantasy book cover it looks. I also love it for the simplicity of it, and how it sort of provides a distinct setting for where and when the music on the album should exist...in a fantasy sunset world filled with epic rolling hills...

Anyway, back into my bunker of A9 secrets...I can't wait for you guys to see what I've got in store at the end of Summer.

I'll vouch for that. I've always been impressed that Nick Huntington has replied personally to emails more than once, especially for someone as busy as him and with such a lofty stature in music. Not all of their roster is to my taste, but A9 is one of my very favourite labels purely because it's obvious Nick puts his complete heart and soul into it.

And as for my bitching, my only problem is that it's going to cost me an absolute fortune to get this and the Christmas Lights reissue shipped from the US (if there'll be any left) Has to be done though.

I'm excited, though I'm a little bit bummed that this latest explosion in highly anticipated releases has come while I've been at the lowest point I've been in the past 20 years. I certainly won't be able to afford the "double-dip" (already have KFTF) package, the highly limited extras-only package will surely be doled out in no time, so I'll be left to listen to MP3s while watching copies immediately go to ebay for inflated prices.

Fuck grad school, man.

Couldn't wait for it to arrive at Norman and chance missing out on one of five copies. Shipped now from the US for a lot less than I expected, really want this and Christmas Lights to just arrive now. I'd love to see a vinyl super-deluxe HWDS next.....

Nice move sir. So maybe I could've hung on, although if it turns up from the US without any problems (unlikely considering Royal Mail and HMRC will be both be against me) then I'll have no regrets.

The deluxe package arrived on my doorstep yesterday. Ridiculously great. For one, the record is as timeless as ever, and for two, the extra 12" and the expanded Christmas Lights are the sweetest icing on the cake. The t-shirt is probably my favorite Attacknine shirt yet, also. In terms of quality, the double gatefold jacket is thick as shit, with lovely gloss coating. The vinyl is also built to last. This is easily some of the nicest vinyl I own now.
