Also, there are these six photos printed on an insert that are quite cool to see as a fan. Labeled "Freescha's Snapshots" from the California hills in 2000. So cool!

Everyone should 'like' it; Nick is very good about the updates on there.

I'll vouch for that. I've always been impressed that Nick Huntington has replied personally to emails more than once, especially for someone as busy as him and with such a lofty stature in music. Not all of their roster is to my taste, but A9 is one of my very favourite labels purely because it's obvious Nick puts his complete heart and soul into it.

And as for my bitching, my only problem is that it's going to cost me an absolute fortune to get this and the Christmas Lights reissue shipped from the US (if there'll be any left) Has to be done though.

Nick Huntingdon has always come across as an exceptionally nice (not to mention) extremely talented person. Freescha and Nick's own solo output continue to help define good electronica.

Anyone who doesn't own this album would be advised to pick it up.

It's a masterclass on creating hauntingly evocative music.

Vinyls arrived yesterday, took no time at all. Agree totally with Mr Grainger, this whole package is a thing of beauty. Particularly love the Christmas Lights coloured vinyl. One-man Freescha listening party tonight then.

Seems that some of the Bandcamp releases have hidden extra tracks as well, although I don't know if that's the same as the Attacknine store.

Digital bonus tracks, mang.

To be clear, the bonus tracks on Bandcamp are the same as those in the A9 store. I think iTunes is the only digital retailer that has alternate bonus tracks for any of the releases. Not all of them, I know for sure Night On Tape and Highschool Guitar do though.

I really do not like the idea of 'iTunes bonus tracks'... I do not like iTunes and will not download it so is there any way to get iTunes bonus tracks in a format better than 128 kbps mp3?

I suppose this is as good a place as any - without wishing to put you on the spot Brian, is there any likelihood of Mike or Nick's soundtrack music becoming available as far as you know? If it's already out there and I missed it then just shoot me after pointing me in the right direction...

I spoke to Nick about this on the phone earlier today, and everything in the A9 catalog should be removed from iTunes soon. Not sure what the fate of the Casino bonus tracks will be, but Night Bus (the iTunes exclusive bonus track on my Highschool Guitar album) will be included on a single that's coming out for free in the next two weeks. Nick reassured me that all the bonus digital tracks on the Bandcamp versions are identical to those in the Attacknine store, and that he's always been very careful to not step on fans' toes by putting new bonus exclusives with previously issued material...

It would be safe to assume that the A9 Bandcamp page is where everything will surface in the future.

Not sure if you know, but Nick's done a couple scores already - the first was for the Adrien Brody film High School, even though I think the score was credited to Freescha and it was Nick alone. The second was a documentary film called From Start To Finish, which you can actually watch on Vimeo here:

[vimeo]33366974[/vimeo]

I'm pretty certain that Nick has recently completed a third score for another movie, but he has yet to tell me what movie it is or when it will be out. I'm sure I'll know when it happens.

To answer your question though, he's considered the possibility of releasing the scores independently, and assured me that he has all the rights he needs to do that, but for personal reasons it isn't too likely that he will.

One thing we did discuss that I had no idea was even a potential thing in the works is a 3 or 4 LP set in a snazzy slipcase containing all the Mystery Tapes material. Nick told me he's been fantasizing about it for a while and I was helping him brainstorm possible ways to do it. Could be awesome...

Dying to know what the vinyl only extra tracks sound like that come with kftf. I thought after I purchased it, I would get downloads of them but it's just the album tracks. I guess that's what makes them vinyl only.

Thanks for info. Reading about the Adrien Brody soundtrack was the first I heard of them doing soundtracks. I'm sure I found something with a soundtrack credited just to Mike McGroarty as well, but I can't remember for the life of me what it was now or even if I just imagined it. Fair enough if Nick has no plans to release any of this though (nice as that would be), it's not as if he doesn't have plenty of other things in the pipeline to look forward to.

EDIT: that's if it was the same Michael McGroarty, of course...

Edited by Caretstik

To be fair to Nick, I think he does want to release the soundtrack works someday, it's just that a couple other things are at play and need to be settled before he does that.

He did tell me yesterday that there was a decent amount of unused material from the sessions for From Start To Finish, which he's tentatively set aside for a new album. Under what name, I cannot divulge, as that would be spoiling it.

But yes there is lots of good stuff in the pipeline! It's a golden time to be an Attacknine fan!

Also, I'd be curious to find out where you read that Mike was involved in the soundtracking with Nick. Maybe it was because From Start To Finish contains Freescha tracks from albums in addition to the soundtracking Nick did? Between that and the bogus Freescha soundtrack credit on High School, there's bound to be some misinformation out there...

It was something by Mike alone that I was thinking of, which with a bit of extra googling I remembered was this:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1529570/.

Like I said, I think it's the same person. I have to agree as well that this is looking like a great year for Attacknine and lovers of all things Huntington. And I would plunge headlong into further debt without a second if that mystery tape set became a reality.

"

I love what they do on Halloween, and I actually won once - it was when HWDS was new - but since then it didn't feel right to try to win, since I'm on the label and all. Better to let fans who aren't already related to the A9 family have a fair shot!
