That's you on the left, isn't it?

I'd just like to point out that seeing as RichieBees has not posted a single response since his "controversial" opening post, he was obviously trolling/flamebaiting and should of course be immediately banned. This is not to mention the fact he is also clearly a dupe and also a complete twat.

All those in favour say I?

Nah, just take the discussion in another direction. Banning all twats would make this a pretty boring place.

Twat

;x

( is this a puking twinkly trying to kiss smiley?)

Wait wait, you guys like RichieBees? Please explain to me what he has contributed to watmm at any point of any worth whatsoever. Plus he really is a dupe.

Like richiebees? He's an obvious twat like the rest of us. I don't see a problem with mr. Bees. Is it because it's your dupe?

I don't know about that. He's acutally been around for years:

Luke vibert living the dream

found this at watmm x

I made an obious typo (another one right there) that I am, in the spirit of the thread, not going to fix.

Off topic but yeah, he's a good lad. Although admittedly his main board posting is usually behind a ridiculously thick veil of irony. If you visit CHATMM once in a while you get to know posters a little better.

He's a nice person. Stop being rude (and wrong). I'm sick and tired of having to correct people's wrong opinions on here lately.

also his name is joel (first name terms)

Regardless of whether DJing or producing is "harder", you have to admit that they both take some amount of effort. Calling Deadmau5 a popular hack just because he's not the supreme DJ seems a bit unfair; he's primarily a producer, which is rather incomparable to the skills required to DJ.

On to more subjective topics...I think DJing is given way too much credit for being dynamic in comparison to producing. The DJs I know generally put their sets together beforehand, even claiming that they spend about 90% of their effort preparing and 10% executing it live. There's little control over altering what you're going to sound like when you play your set live -- as long as you don't completely fuck up the transitions, you're basically going to move from one track to another, or overlay a loop from one track over another. Aside from that, you do have filters to mess around with and the EQ, but that's about where your live creativity ends. All the rest is in the preparation, and generally song order and selection of cue points, loops, etc. are done beforehand.

Then again, I am not a DJ by any means.

Is this some sort of metaphorical self-crucification? You might be able to pull it off if you post pictures of yourself hanging.

Edit: at richiebees AND BCM

I find it ironic that (edit: some of) the people who are complaining about not being able to post porn and sexual content, with mah liberty and mah creativity being butchered by Joyrex, are the same who are being mean, condescending, or simply cunts in this thread

Its not all playing playlists, maybe you need to go to some proper nights out instead of Deadchee5e funfairs.

"April 2003, Laurent Garnier was playing the Music Box, a mythical Manchester nightclub, packed with a capacity crowd of 600 people. He served up a rare, eclectic, and passionate DJ set that night, lining up classic rave anthems from the nineties and cutting edge electronica, vintage hip-hop and techno gems from Detroit, disco hymns and reggae classics. Suddenly, Garnier cut the music off. A lone voice rang out criticizing the war in Iraq. The second Gulf War was already under way; Blair’s government had dragged England into a war that the people didn’t want. A clamour began and burst into a scream when military drum rolls boomed out. It was “War” by Edwin Starr.

At this moment, Manchester went crazy. I saw t-shirts flying through the air, gangsters dancing like lunatics, girls twisting their bodies outrageously and guys literally hanging out of the ceiling. This was not a club anymore, this was not even a DJ set, this was now a pagan temple in which everything was allowed; eccentric behaviour, loss of control, blissful smiles and improbable gestures. I remember looking at Laurent plunged in his record boxes looking for a last record, hesitating nervously between Farley Jack Master Funk “Love Can’t Turn You Around” and Marshall Jefferson “Move Your Body”. He chose his last record. It sounded like a riot was going to start when the record ended with a spluttering hiss.

That night in Manchester is my clearest memory of Laurent Garnier’s art: generous, urgent and capable of miracles."

I wasn't refering exclusively too you, I'm not that passive-agressive. But yeah, my post was kinda cunt-ish (and hypocritical). Sorry for that
