Sometimes beer triggers an alergic response, like my sinuses fill up with mucus and my eyes water. Kind of like as if i walked into a dusty room or something. It's odd. Doesn't stop me from being able to drink silly amounts of it though.

Still maybe people not tolerating alcohol well is a thing. Perhaps their liver can't process it well or something. But then again, if they had trouble with that compound, they'd have trouble with sugars too. hrmm, can't be bothered webbing it.

yup. i know quite a few people that get sick after drinking wheat beers or wine, so allergies to alcohol can't be that far off.

A pro skater, former local hero Jereme Rogers from Boston tried to do this. Hilarity ensues.

The amount of child/teen stars who go on to have complete meltdowns is ridiculous.

There's a great article on Cracked about this called 7 Reasons Child Stars Go Crazy, written by Mara Wilson, former child actress that played in Mrs. Doubtfire and Matilda. Very insightful.

Wow that's a brilliant article. I always wondered what happened to that cute little kid (actually I didn't I found her annoying).

She should write a book BTW.

ftr I wasn't loling at people being allergic to alcohol, I just think it's hilarious that she is using that excuse with a straight face. "allergic to alcohol and drugs", come on. most celebs would simply admit that they have a problem and vow to do something about it (and then do nothing).

when i have heard the term "allergic to alcohol" in the past, it has almost always been from recovering alcoholics, and it meant not they are allergic in the way someone might be allergic to peanuts or shellfish, but that they have to avoid alcohol because it causes nothing but problems in their lives. i have also known a couple alcoholics who seemed to use the term because they were ashamed to call themselves alcoholics.

i don't know if amanda bynes has been through any kind of 12-step program, but if she has then it would explain why she used that term.

or it might just be simple ignorance. she might be allergic to something i the alcoholic beverages (celiac disease and wheat beer, etc.) and just never bothered to figure out specific reasons for the reaction.

but yeah, she might be completely BSing.

imo she's BSing but i've heard a few people say it, like my mom. and i've seen her break out a bit from half of a beer. it could be something in the beer and not the alcohol itself. i don't know if it's actually possible to be allergic to alcohol itself but i wouldn't see why not.

but really the whole thing is a distraction or deflection from her admitting that she clearly has problems. i don't particularly care about HER problems, but the fact of Hollywood churning out lots of these kids who end up having melt downs does concern me.

id be interested in comparing Hollywood child actors to child actors from other major cinematic markets/areas like Bollywood. Is it only significant in the US? Something tells me it isn't, but it would be interesting to look at the specifics.
