The Guardian's review of Tomorrow's Harvest

Recommended Posts

I thought it was quite a terrible review.

But I haven't heard the album yet.. so maybe I should just stfu.

will people stop calling Campfire Headphase disappointing? It's fantastic (apart from Hey Saturday Sun, which let's face it, is kinda gay)

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

- lost cloud

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

Nah, Sherbet Head takes the honour of being the worst TCH track, perhaps even the worst track of any on their official albums. I will say this for Hey Saturday Sun though, it is a frustrating track.

No waaaay....Sherbet Head is one of the best tracks on the album. Different strokes, and all that, but I'm curious how anyone could dislike it. It's so atmospheric, you could cut it with a knife...also hearkens back to Turquoise Hex Sun, so if you're a fan, not sure what there's not to like about the track...anyway it's short so, I would think it'd be hard to be offended by it...

I came here immediately after reading that line with similar sentiment. Who writes this drivel?

rolling stone and guardian think there are dubstep influences in an album that is influenced by 70's and 80's horror soundtracks. enough said.

I just find it really uninteresting, it's pleasant enough to listen to but I'm sure they had something better they could have put on there. In fact I feel the same way about Peacock Tail. I can appreciate the detail it just doesn't move me in any particular way. I do actually enjoy the album don't get me wrong, out of the four though it's my least favourite overall and it's because of those two tracks mainly. As you say though, different strokes.

And Diving Station. Both have that bouncing wow, although Sherbet Head has more rhythm to it...

Is it obligatory to mention dubstep in every review of an electronic album? Is it to show that you're "with it"?

We could agree about Peacock Tail, I'm not as keen on it as some others are. It gets better as it builds, but still seems like a somewhat less successful version of Telephasic Workshop.

But Sherbet Head...I've always felt it's one of the more innovative tracks on the album, in terms of crafting a new approach to music. The way the descending bass is used is utter genius imo, the way it cuts out and then comes back. Plus the little melody...the static-y, crunchy approach reminds me a bit of Ae's Rettic AC. Sorry to hear you don't like it, I think it's just amazing.

The descending bass line does work well, just not enough to redeem it in my eyes. Peacock Tail, I agree with what you said about that. It does some interesting details tucked away at the end but I've usually tuned out by then.

Sherbert Head is, for me, what BOC are all about.

Short almost interlude length, disorientating yet devastating pretty melody that harks back to Old Tapes period and the best ever use of evocative yet barely audible voices "Julie?Julie?"

Killer track. Was absolutely stunned the first time I heard it. TH is good but nothing on there compares to SH (assuming we are talking about that track) and its dizzying, subliminal power.

I still like Peacock Tail. I will never get tired of that quiet cat-like noise...

I was a little surprised that he said TCH was a flop. I thought it was a great album, I still listen to it often. Actual the guardian interview and WATMM froums are the first time I've heard that people didn't like it. They had the wrong guy do the review, his favourite album of 2012 was Frank Ocean. LOL :emotawesomepm9:

I see where you are coming from. What it lacks for me is emotional power I guess, it's not like when I hear something like Olson. Olson just takes me somewhere else. And as for subliminal power Opening the Mouth really gets me there. Everyone reacts to different things though (obviously...) As for Tomorrow's Harvest that Transmisiones Ferox hit me in a strange way similar to the way you described for Sherbet Head.

Yeah, Transmisiones Ferox has that vibe. There is a some female voice in there saying "1990" or something. One of my favourites. I keep thinking I also hear a sample of Marshall Applewhite in there but it's probably just me.

It's okay but the melody is rather lame compared to SH.
