will people stop calling Campfire Headphase disappointing? It's fantastic (apart from Hey Saturday Sun, which let's face it, is kinda gay)

Word. TCH is a superb album. I think it gets dissed because there isn't any esoteric subliminal stuff on it. Musically, there's way more to come back to than anything on Geogaddi.

the fuck is this dubstep comparison shit???

Critics need critics

If you do you're drowned out or deleted or called out for being a killjoy or negative. That's why even some of most mediocre and irrelevant shit is "universally critically acclaimed" - it's all an allusion.

I want to say (in fact I initially argued this) they're referring to old dubstep and it's influences elsewhere (releases from Hyperdub, Skull Disco, Planet Mu, Hotflush, etc) but I'm starting to doubt that myself.

Yeah I know a lot of "roots" dubstep and still enjoy it from time to time. Boards of Canada have been using bass filtering since Hi Scores and not in a repetitive way, just for added depth within a track. Critics are blinded by fads and just feel the need to reference random pop shit to make themselves seem "with it". They go home to listen to Coldplay after having reviewed what I consider to be the best record to come out in many a year.

Anyhow I still have no idea where this is coming from. They need to listen to the rest of the catalogue before jumping to BOC IS RIPPING ON CASPA territory. BoC have invented many techniques that make up a lot of the best electronic music going on today. NUDUBSTEP not being one of them. Loefah yes, Skrullicks no.
