Newer ae sounds way more melancholic/generally emotive than the earlier stuff to me. Feels like it's not just the melodies being played but the sounds themselves are dripping with emotion. The screaming synths at the end of mesh cinema...

I always got emotion out of ae thru the back catalogue - from Piezo, to V-proc, LCC and latest shit. Live sets too
