Benedict Cumberbatch is pretty much the doctor already in every role he plays.

good idea. Someone with actual eccentric charm. Not someone who puts on eccentric charm.

And again i'll restate it should be someone older this time, someone who projects authority and respect. Also, they should reinstate the multi episode format, so they can bring in more detailed story telling. And absolutely remove the concept of doctor conoodeling with his sidekicks (this will stop all the females from io9 from watching and this will be a good thing, stupid wankers).

i was a huge fan of the 9th and 10th doctors, but ever since steven moffat became the showrunner, the show has declined in quality IMMENSELY. some of the plotlines sound like something you'd read in a shitty fanfiction written by a horny thirteen year old rather than something that should go in a legendary television series. prime example:

the thing i liked about rose, mickey, martha and donna was that they were normal people thrust into these crazy situations and you got to see how they coped. rose was a chav who lived in government housing ffs. there was nothing special about her. she wasn't magical or super intelligent or a ninja. but she was a kind, empathetic person and the show really made the viewer connect with her on a human level.

how about moffat's companions? amy is, quite frankly, a total bitch. the way she treats rory is appalling. she is extremely special, recalling where she was born and how she is somehow linked to the fabric of the universe (wtf?). rory inexplicably dies all the time and gets brought back to life, so he is also "special." river is awful. just awful. god, i hate river. she could've been such an interesting character with her introduction at the library with the 10th doctor, but then they turned her into some shitty super hero. i don't know much about the last companion since i stopped watching the last season because it fucking sucked so badly.

then they transform the doctor's character into a whimsical manchild. ugh.
