this is nicely done, but fake, imo. it's a bit try-hard. sean and rob wouldn't use a formant synth that nakedly. they really got the scuzzy bazz down though. i could swear i heard a synth sequence preset from some VST i know in there too (arturia CS80 or z3ta or something).

on pce freeze 2.8i off MoT you can hear practically unchanged Microtonic preset called 'EM 1983 Stylish (120)'

not as fake as the autechre fanclub

C'mon most of us are tr0o0 ae fans, rat out tha pozers \m/

the stuff happening after 4 minutes is very nice. Sounds more fake to me now, it's not even the quality of the arrangement or sounds which actually sound pretty Exai-accurate. The thing that screams fake to me is the mixing and mastering quality, it's just too muddy even for one of Autechre's dirtier tracks like Perlence. On my Sennheiser HD650 headphones this mix sounds far lower quality than anything from Exai. I don't know if it took a very experienced producer to make this, but whoever did has a good ear for how to recreate Autechre's sound, which at this point is borderline unpredictable, and for that I would still give it an A-.

This. I would actually be extremely happy to have this on vinyl, whether it's ae or not. It's fucking bangin'!

Hey guys,

Don't post any links to sites where you download any leaks. If you continue to do so I'll bombard your asses.

That proves the leaks are not fake ;)

No, that proves we don't tolerate leaks, fake or otherwise.

what if the link is from

youtube

you're technically not downloading anything

:cisfor:

True, but if you respect Autechre at all, then posting links on YouTube to their music should be a no-no.

Confirmed. :spiteful:

For those saying they expect the unexpected out of ae and not a predictable or non groundbreaking sound/ep, the fact that you don't expect these two to be tracks on the ep is the unexpected. So therefore if these two are 4 da realz and on the release then they've done something unexpected. Sean thought this through carefully, crafty little bugger.

Regarding "not surprising" Exai pallette - what would you expect given the name tac Lacora (with clear reference to deco Loc, the only one of this sort on EP) and that thing The Black Dog wrote about this being done before Exai. You seem to look for that era of EPs which ended with Gantz Graf, when EPs were unrelated to LPs, but recent examples are Quaristice.quadrange and MoT, where a lot of tracks are alternate takes (take no border or ylm0).

What's the reference to deco loc? Just vaguely similar title?

Yes. Do you have other examples of two Ae titles that similar? Moreover the current fanboy theory of which i'm a supporter is that, since Quaristice at least, titles contain or even consists of references to the production methods and sound sources itself. The prove is similarity between ts1a and t ess xi and, to some extent, the speculation of bladelores being named after lo-res "blade"-like filter someone noticed in Max program.

that's not really relevant to what I was talking about though, just because MOT is referencing songs off Oversteps doesn't mean it has a similar sound palette, for the most part it's actually totally different.

I just came back from the Niigata Prefecture in Japan. Happened to be listening to a dope little radio station there, that is coincidentally run by a group of Russian foreign exchange student/workers who were on a visa studying abroad for audio engineering.

Anyways, I was able to catch a part of "M39 Diffain". Sounds like an Exia treatment of M62 from Moves of Ten. Quite interesting.
