Official Bottled Water & Drinking Water-Related Thread

Recommended Posts

used to use a brita filter before i moved... tasted pretty good...

Now I'm on a Nestle "Pure Life" run atm.. not that it's delish or anything, just that for some reason it tastes less bitter/minerally than arrowhead (which i used to tolerate)...

of course, fiji is lush for bottled waters, but there's a strange sweet slickness to it that makes it distinct...

im gonna have to try voss again, it's been a while

all time losers are dasani and aquafina (although there's something im embarrassingly starting to like about Coca-Cola's Dasani after a workout)... maybe it's the sodium chloride they add "for taste"...?

You guys are crazy. You know that stuff comes out of a tap basically for free right?

I'm on a water meter here. Shit cost like 0.01 cents per litre. lol

plus if I buy the bottle I get that shiny scrunchy water bottle souvenir..

I forgot to add... the more bottled water I buy the more money I get back when I go to the bottle depot.. .so it's like I'm making a profit. but not really...

I've started keeping a bottle of Smartwater with me when I'm at work. It's relatively cheap and I like the aesthetics of the bottle. Occasionally I'll grab a Perrier if I'm in the mood for a fizzy drink, that shit is amazing with a little lemon in it.

watch this docu and you'll probably never want to drink nestle water again (at least i do)

Я твой слуга, Я твой работник

Drinking bottled water is basically just dumping BPA's into your body. You don't know where those bottles have been, or how they have been treated. If the water is allowed to heat up, as it does in a lot of places, then you're getting a lot higher exposure. The other kicker, as mentioned previously, is that a lot of bottled water is just tap. You could theoretically be better off drinking the tap depending on where you live. Some places have very good tap water. (like my hometown for instance) Mineral Filters and toxin-free containers are the best way to consume water. I like metal containers and BPA-free rated plastics. Don't make a habit of drinking water that has been allowed to be heated in a bottle. i.e. leaving it in your car during the day.

Last time I checked PUR made the best mineral filter widely available, but I haven't researched it extensively. Most Brita filters are total shit and barely filter anything. I think they use charcoal and other chemicals to filter, and they miss a lot of important things. If you live somewhere permanently then installing a high quality filter into your kitchen line and showers might be a good choice.

I like Fiji for the taste, and the supposed source of collection. I've never verified that it is actually spring water though. Ergonomically the bottle is a tragedy. Smart Water is cool because they use a vapor distillation purification process.

Technically, if Voss is as high quality of water it is the safest to consume due to the glass container.

In my opinion, bottled water is a waste of money and you should use your own container and home filter.

Supposedly, mineral water has tons of health benefits, and Perrier is glass bottled so maybe you should consider it if you enjoy bottled water.

is it? i mean, 80-90% of the time I buy it is because im on a road trip. The other times I buy it is so I have a container to refill for a few days.

i'm being a dick, but yes, bottled water is for cunts. if you need a refill container, buy a metal can and refill it indefinitely already.

yup. buying water is ridiculous. i'm lucky that the tap water in my town is some of the best around, but i still don't buy bottled water. fuck that. i have a water bottle that i carry with me everywhere. Work, driving, walking, what ever. and i fill it from the tap.

Essines has, and always will remind me of MacReady.

I use a Zero water filter pitcher at home. I really like it, but it takes a little longer than a Brita pitcher does to filter. At work I get free Deer Park all day long. I drink about a gallon of that water a day, and about 12 cups of green tea. I spend half my day in the bathroom pissing.

yeah this is bullshit, unless you're living in some post-colonial third world shithole soon to be dominated by multinational corporations chances are your tap water is just fine

Not quite. You should filter your tap water even if it is "just fine".

Fiji is top notch but also top price tag. Smart Water is also good for a quick grab-n-go.

However, the tap water at my new residence might just be some of the best in the world. Not even exaggerating.

I get irrationally angry when I loose the bottle I refill from the tap and have to buy another, like it's against my human rights to have to pay for a necessity - plus VAT.

I want to get a filter as it would make my coffee taste far superior, but they're quite expensive. I drink filtered tap water at work though.

I drink a lot of Hildon at work, mainly because a lot my shifts end at 10pm and when I used to drink tea/coffee I couldn't sleep when I got home lol. You can try some free here although I'm not sure if this is for UK only?

The 'gently sparkling' comes in a glass bottle which is easier to clean and re-use :)
