Lost, Found & Thieved

it is said that when you find money on the street or wherever, that you'll likely remember it for the rest of your life. the same goes for losing money or having it stolen and i would then gather that one would likely also remember distinctly, throughout ones life, thieving money.

so my question(s) is this; have you ever found, lost, been thieved or thieved money? if so how much and maybe a short bit about the circumstances. also, what is the largest sum of money u have ever been in possession of at one time?

i keep my money in my considerable bookshelf, and segregate it into various places it needs to be paid or has been paid from, so im quite often treated to opening a book i havent read for ages and finding 200 quid, which is awesome. i invariably go out and get everyone drunk with the profits.

i found sum in the forest, in the middle of no where sevǝral days ago. given the fact that i was in backcountry, i was sure it was a hallucination, until i grabbed for it like a gollum

I stole 10 dollars from my friend once, but felt so bad about it that I pretended that I found it and gave it back to him. Then I stole 15 dollars from my mother one time as well. I also found 100 dollars on the ground at school. One time I saw a homeless man and gave him 100 dollars.

I found £20 in a toilet at a party once.

i found 200 quid in a wallet in a club a few weeks back, i handed it in though.

Someone stole my awesome GT bmx that was worth about a grand, when I was 15. My older brother once stole 4$ from me after he asked me to borrow it and I said no. It was the only money I had and I needed it to buy a bus pass to get to high school, my school was 15km from my house so I needed that money. He was kicked out of the house for it and I haven't talked to him since then. That was 10 years ago.

Largest sum of money I've ever had is just under 70,000$.

I stole 15,000$ once from some bad people when I was a kid. Looking back now it was stupid and I think thieves are low and scummy. I was a POS. I still am, but for different reasons I guess.

Yes and no. He stole it fully knowing I was going to have to walk 15km each way to school for the next month and he used it for a video game or some dumb shit. My family was kind of poor.

Granted, it's been his choice to not talk to me for a decade. And he wasn't immediately kicked out just for that. When he was grounded for stealing from me he went on some big huge hissy fit and that's why he got kicked out. Parents decided if he was a big enough man to decide the rules around the house, surely he could provide for himself.

I'm not saying any of what happened was right or wrong. It just happened like that.

Seems very unfortunate and mishandled. Everyone lost in that situation. Just my $.02

You're absolutely spot on. Family situations are made overly complex and problematic, emotions and whatnot.

Yeah, definitely.

I like to periodically hide rolled up five dollar bills around local bars with a note attached saying 'TREASURE!'. It's p exciting to look for them after awhile and realize someone has found them.

I've found many a money on the street, but I've forgotten all about it.

200 dollars stolen from my wallet.

i lost about 300 dollars after i got drunk as a skunk at my job. I was a cook at a bar and had my check cashed at work. stayed after work and got blasted on the top shelf liquor. stumbled home and sprinkled my paycheck all over town

how about a twist on it

when I was young I secretly saved my lunch money and allowance for months and then when I had enough I walked to the store and got a laptop

then I had to explain how I was able to get it. I felt uncomfortable about revealing that I had been telling white lies for so long in the spirit of saving up the money that i preferred to just say I found a big loaded gift card someone left between some chair cushions at a coffee shop

i'd rather someone think I stole hundreds of dollars in a moment of weakness than think I was keeping daily secrets
