Essines has, and always will remind me of MacReady.

I had an HTC Glacier (first smartphone) since Oct 2010. It quickly went from being competent to being a laggy piece of shit. I just replaced it with an HTC One a week ago and wow, night and day. I love this phone.

HTC phones are crap

maybe 5 years ago. get with the times man. HTC one is pretty much the best smartphone on the market today.

Well I should hope so... seeing how mine just turned up :emotawesomepm9:

Gotta admit, that looks pretty damn slick.

Oh, look boys and girls! An Apple announcement September 10th! I wonder what they'll talk about then? :emotawesomepm9:

Probably iPhone 5C (cheaper, plastic and in lots of colours), iPad Mini Retina (finally), and iPad 5 (it is gen 5, right? I've lost count).

Anyone longing for the new Mac Pros (aka the trashcan from the future) better start saving up - based on component part costs alone, the estimates are coming in at a minimum of 3500.00, and probably over 5000.00 for a machine "worth" upgrading to. Serious professionals only, I guess.

The forthcoming announcements are also why I'm shipping out of the iOS eco-system (well, apart from an iPad Mini which is used loads). I'm selling up my iPhone 5 now before all these flashy new buying options start appearing for eager Apple fans ready to start throwing money at their screens.

hopefully new haswell based mbp and mbp retina too

Yeah, I need to get on the Retina bandwagon...my 2011 MBP with 1200x800 screen isn't cutting it anymore... and it's embarrassing to carry around a 27" Cinema Display to Starbucks :emotawesomepm9:

i've had a one x (rooted, with cm10 4.2.2) for about a year now, and have been quite happy with it, but i begin salivating whenever i see the htc one. it's a beautiful phone.

the sony experia z also looks nice, i like the idea having a sony camera in my pocket at all times. anyone have any experience with that one?

i have an xperia z - i love it. love the waterproofness - as someone who previously dropped an iphone down the toilet (and also regularly use my phone in the bath) i think it's a really good idea. the camera is pretty fucking good as well yeah, although it does take longer than you would think to fire up (around 2 seconds from when you press the camera button). i wouldn't hesitate to recommend the phone though - fantastic, incredibly sharp screen, lightning quick (apart from the camera start-up), and has a high quality feel to it.

I too like the waterproofness. It would be a selling point for me, were i in the market. Well that and it's a pretty looking thing. My next phone will be a super slim phablet, screen size comes in handy, my problem with them though is they usually don't have the up to date specs of their 'regular sized (currently)' counterparts.

People sending email to any of Google's 425 million Gmail users have no "reasonable expectation" that their communications are confidential, the internet giant has said in a court filing.

yes, well. thank you Mr. Google.

Hmm it seems an oddly skewed article by The Guardian who appear to have a bee in their bonnet with Google recently. It's worth noting their correction at the bottom of the article and this follow up piece - http://thenextweb.com/google/2013/08/14/no-google-did-not-say-that-we-cant-expect-privacy-in-gmail/

Also it's a little bit tangential from the original post, it'd like posting an article about the privacy of Hotmail (or whatever it's called now) when the OP was asking about moving from Mac to PC - I don't actually use my gmail account on my Andoid phone

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Out of interest, what do you use?

I'm old skool and still have my Yahoo account since about '98 back when I didn't know any better

i hate the gmail ap. Actually i hate all mobile versions of websites. I prefer to use the browser version when looking at websites, otherwise it's like they took all the functionality that has been dumped into a webpage, and threw it all away.

Also, g+ synced some stupid webpage picture that i put in a g+ update years ago, and it won't let me delete it off any of the phones that i've had. cunts.

Just a straw poll for mobile data users (UK) - which network/data plan are you on? I'm thinking of switching networks, kind of got my eye on Three for one of their cheap 'unlimited' data plans. I realise they use Traffic Sense, but that's only for P2P... but probably spills over to other network interactions (find me a network that doesn't shape/manage their data!)

I have the Xperia T and have been getting on fine with it, I've yet to transfer my data to my laptop though so wish me luck!

The Gmail app is not a mobile version of the Gmail web interface... it's a mobile interface/dedicated app. Just saying.
