Well, that's what I think bands should do with live performances - you've got a captive audience of people who obviously love your music - why wouldn't you want to make them happy by playing what attracted them to you in the first place?

Anyways, I don't plan on holding out hope on any future MGMT releases ever coming close to their first release - and that's fine if they're happy with the direction they want their music to go in - I just won't be consuming their music anymore.

but there is the point with which I disagree. If they obviously love the bands music, then they have no qualms about what will be played; to assume that loving and demanding the "hits" played as essential to the concert experience means that they aren't really fans of their music in totality, but rather an incredibly specific and limited part of it.

Anyways, they have plenty more hits which they frequently play at concerts, Electric Feel being one of the more popular ones. Why have such a dust up over one song? I didn't criticize David Byrne for not playing Once in a Lifetime during his last tour, because the oeuvre of songs presented was more than satisfactory.

I almost feel in this sense that people who criticize a band for not playing (and not wanting to play) a certain song shouldn't go to live shows, because they intrinsically base their experience on whether or not they "get" their 5 minutes of hit songs out of an hour set.

In other words, the spectators shouldn't dictate the spectacle.

Kitty Mean

Pay YO Tee

that doesn't make any fucking sense

Silvia Psy bin

The performance is for the fans - therefore the band should cater somewhat to what the fans want - please note that I do not agree when applied to making music or releasing music for that matter - that's the band's choice, for sure. But a concert, where they are playing for the fans, should be fan-centric, and not about what the band personally wants to play (as much).

kids is one of their worst songs... honestly their only dancey tune i really dig is electric feel...

I'm way more into their psy indie rock...

and i do believe that all the shit they say in interviews is on purpose bulshit... just like Richard in the past...

What if The Rolling Stones announced their last show, just played a cover of "Electric Feel" over and over for three hours, and denied doing it when interviewed about it later? Respect.

when through bitter life experience and bad trips you gradually develop a scaly crust of cynicism, a hair-trigger of insanity and paranoia, a burden of crushed dreams - then and only then, will you be a true wattmer.
