Shit Music You Can't Stop Listening To?

Recommended Posts

I'm currently having a major Chief Keef problem:

He and his music are clearly shit by any accepted standard, but I've been listening to him obsessively for a couple weeks now. Anyone else irresistibly drawn to extremely shit music at the moment?

I'm hardly a closed minded nun. Remember, I'm on a fucking IDM forum.... an IDM forum.. Think about that for a second before claiming people are closed minded nuns.

How is it possible to set out making a track & have every element of the track be completely offtime from one another unless you're doing it on purpose. I can't wrap my head around how bad this is. My 7 year old daughter & 5 yr old son sing along with pop songs & are in perfect time with the lyrical content.

Or, is D4nny beyond human musical comprehension, and the true next shit?

Don't hate, this production reminds of Dj Nate :mcgriff:

In a nutshell, the chorus = my feelings towards this song. :trashbear:

I don't understand anything lyrically in this song. What the fuck is it about? A 40 year old dating a 20 year old?

This song sums up almost everything I can't stand about pop music (extremely overwrought lyrics/singing style, fake indie production, arbitrary use of horns), but it keeps getting stuck in my head. Maybe something's wrong with me.

That song is more tolerable than "Kangaroo Court" which I fucking despise.

Their origin is a bit dodgy "Merchant met Simonian on craigslist after he responded to the other's open ad offering his production services. The pair soon fell into jingle-writing and after a successful three years together composing music for commercials and advertising campaigns, the pair formed Capital Cities. The band released its debut, self-titled EP in June 2011 via their label, Lazy Hooks."

I still like this song :/

Why call it shit music when you're enjoying it? Not being a snide, a serious question.

Well shit is a clearly arbitrary standard.

Personally, I take this as "music that embodies multiple things you don't like, but in this case moves you in a positive way anyway."

In my old car that only had a radio, there was some Dallas hip-hop that charted regionally that I personally liked hearing over and over again, even though it was lyrically, musically, and aesthetically opposite of what I listened to for the most part back then:

These songs also make me think that's the dilemma with trap - it's simple, stupid, derivative, but then again, how much different is it than say, old school electro?

I can't stop listening to M.C. Hammer's "Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em" album.

Particularly this track:

BOOOM! That's right the boom is here!

YoubettergettothefloorBOOOOOM!

my problem isn't so much "shit music" as music i just don't like very much. i have every squarepusher album, i don't really like any of them. but i feel obligated to have them because twelve years ago i was into some of his music. i do this with a lot of artists. i keep trying, even though i shouldn't waste my time. probably a topic for another thread. "music you want to like".
