I'm hardly a closed minded nun. Remember, I'm on a fucking IDM forum.... an IDM forum.. Think about that for a second before claiming people are closed minded nuns.

When it comes to the Smiths, Johnny Marr neutralizes Moz's inherent douchiness with his ballin' geetar rockin'.

The guitar sound from "How Soon Is Now?" excuses everything else done by Moz imo.

I feel like Cocteau Twins are a bit shit cos Liz Fraser just makes up lyrics, but I like it. I'm a big sucker for reverb

As a huge fan of 2/3 of REM's discography, most of the albums by The Doors, and Interpol's first two albums, I can completely relate to this.

The Doors in particular

The Smiths are awesome; Morrisey's solo work is utter garbage. He's nothing without Marr and the rest. That group just had "it".

And Im glad there is at least one other REM fan on this board. I feel like they get way, way too much undeserved hate. Everyone focuses on "Everybody Hurts" and "Losing My Religion". Sad stuff....though I did hear Nightswimming come on at a craft beer store and was determined to stay there until it had played out. Great song.

Yeah I started the thread about their disbandment.

"Nightswimming" is my favorite song ever. I can't help this fact nor change it. It kind of encapsulates what a reviewer wrote years ago:

The main peril of writing about R.E.M. is that otherwise rational people tend to form torturously private relationships with this band. I am one of them.

Back to shit music, I should retrospectively hate this song and historically revised that I even acknowledged it's existence but I kinda liked it when it came out and well, I wouldn't change the station right away even now :/

I was then a mopey teen with limited music exposure when it came out...
