I want to add- my previous post meant a topic regarding some periods of Oval's past.

And as we talked only online, this is just my personal feeling.

Of course you can talk to him about everything music related and you get an friendly answer. Sorry, was not my plan to create a wrong image of Marcus.

I think I retract my comment of it being 'obviously physically modelled plucked strings', I think there's just too many nuances of some of the plucked harmonics for it to be anything other than a sampled instrument - whether or not it's then processed electronically (seeing Ableton's Amp plugin sort of gives that away !) is something else completely

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

it's physical modeling. You can get the same nuances out of several different existing physical modeling synth engines. There are nice sweet spots of Tension in abelton that sounds *exactly* like what he's using. I think the fact that his recordings are tricking people into believing they are hearing real guitar is a testament to the power of the technology in the right hands

my suggestion would be to fire up a tension guitar or bass patch in ableton live, do some automation on it play around with it for a few hours in an experimental fashion and at some point you'll scream 'OVAL'

I consider ovalcommers a 10/10 and love the other stuff too

I think his new style with guitar is great. I didn't quite comprehend old oval immediately. My appreciation has definitely grown. I think voa is at the very least massively inspiring.

Sounds like he has some unresolved guilt and shame about screwing over his old mates.

this is a really strange album

He used a dozen of tracks already released on O, by just adding vocals.
