The Borderlands is definitely worth a watch.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

"I'm a big fan of stuff like angel heart, Jacobs ladder, the hitcher"

+1 love them three films, the borderlands sounds interesting.gonna give that a try, recommend the exorcist 1+3,prince of darkness, near dark, alien, the thing, all probably mentioned already tho

Carpenters the thing is a MUST!! And I'll second Alien and Near Dark. Also The Hunger, Eraserhead, Ravenous, Rivers Edge/Blue Velvet, holy mountain/el topo, alien 3, nightmare, ninth gate, existenz/videodrome, pans labyrinth, dead man...

I really wish there were more movies that were like the games Silent Hill 2 and 3.

What about horror movies where the outside horror reflects inner struggles of the characters? I think this is a mark of a good horror film, like Jacob's Ladder, because you feel the horror more than you see it. The Silent Hill series does this as well, where you internally feel the horror that is happening, and instead of straight fear you get emotions like loneliness and guilt mixed in.

^ word. more mind horror, less pointless lolworthy gore. nothing makes me disconnect from a horror movie quicker than random blood and guts.

afaik i usually place all my cum drops on scientifically sterilized glass slides which are carefully frozen and placed in trash cans throughout the city labelled "for women ❤️ alco" with my social security and phone numbers.

Things that are scarier than gore and death:

- Loss of loved ones

- Guilt

- Realizing that you're as fucked up as you thought you were

- Being emotionally alone

- Betrayal

We need more horror movies with those themes.

more like psy thrillers:

kill list

dog tooth

funny games

trance (2006)

inland empire

lost highway

doc:

the act of killing

to be fair there are probably a lot of horror movies that have these as sub-themes. but they usually don't take the main stage. I'd like to see a really good horror movie about isolation, unconquerable alienation, loneliness. maybe the reason why they don't make 'em like that is because they'd be too real, hit too close to home for some.
