delet...
also, the only thing we can do about tpp and tpip is going to get rather messy for those that desire to impose it upon us. They are asking for it, so well you know. They should have read history a little closer. so it'll get signed, we'll get screwed and then nature will take it's course, survival of the most fucked over. Us cockroaches win again. hello spiral
I only just learned about the international one last week. Seems to be an elaborate legal loophole for businesses and corporations to disregard pesky safety, environmental and 'don't be a cunt to your employees' laws. Pretty alarming stuff. http://www.theguardian.com/membership/2015/feb/18/guardian-live-what-is-ttip-and-how-does-it-affect-us Edited August 12, 2015 by hello spiral Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide hello spiral's signature Hide all signatures https://salaamhelicoid.bandcamp.com/ Reveal hidden contents Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/81288-the-trans-pacific-partnership/page/4/#findComment-2355627 Share on other sites
Tricone RC
Yeah, since the negotiations all behind closed doors you have no idea what kind of cronyist regulatory capture is going on. And the power TTIP and TPP give companies and investors to challenge safety, enviro regs is a bit shady. Investors need to suck it up and invest responsibly, if they think a project is going to severely piss off the locals and thus incur regulatory wrath, then they shouldn't be investing in it. It makes sense for outside investors to be able to sue bullshit countries like Zimbabwe, which might decide to randomly slap another tax on your business for purely corrupt reasons, but most of the govts involved in these treaties tend to be slightly more sapient, and there are already channels by which they can be held accountable. These deals will also threaten food protectionism laws but IMO that's a good thing, UK farmers are always whining but they need to stop sucking the subsidy titties and adapt. Also Canadian cheese is fucking bollocks, perhaps when there's actual Cheddar from Cheddar on the shelves here it will scare the Canadian dairy biz into making something decent lawl Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/81288-the-trans-pacific-partnership/page/4/#findComment-2355693 Share on other sites
