this parody is actually better than the original beriel, oh well...

Yeah it's an oddly tame (yet appropriate) parody. Sounds more like Burial than the new Burial. Whereas I'm sure the new real Burial sounds (to many) closer to this:

this is seriously the greatest thing i have heard in quite a while.

It's mostly the tired synth sounds and cheesy melodies that kill it for me, plus the overuse of his vocal tricks. I don't think this is happy, and I don't understand where people are hearing that. It's "emotional" in the most cliche'd way possible, I feel like I've heard all these melodies a million times before. They could bang most of this ep on in the background of some random cripple overcoming their handicap docu on TLC and nobody would react.

There's no restraint in his music anymore.

Maybe he finally read somewhere that dubstep was dead, discovered vaporware, the new hot shit, and this is his hybrid take on it?

awaits poop from limpy.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Just because people don't like this EP, doesn't mean everybody just suddenly hates Burial. That is not the case for me at least.

Never said that. Just pointing out he's getting the SP WATMM treatment.

At least people are not just blindly praising it like with so much other music. *cough* Drexciya...

I Completely agree.. Sometimes WATMM is pretty silly when it comes to harsh treatments and overreactions (or maybe that's just the internet in general). It wasn't really directed at you.

It's awesome that people have different opinions, but I would be nice if people would express their opinions without having to shit on everything they don't like, all the time. But we all know that is never going to happen. I do it myself sometimes, so I probably shouldn't complain too much.

Come Down to Us is an awesome track. My initial overreaction was unfounded

Other two are shit though. I like the Indian sounding parts in CDTU and the background cheesy pop Christmas sounding synths are growing on me. Standing by my decision to cancel my pre-order but CDTU is growing on me. Not Kindred level goodness but definitely better than your standard shit

vattern is harsh, but there's no need to smear poop all over it.

i actually got that kind of vaporwave vibe too and wondered whether that was at play here. i've been listening to a lot of vape recently, so maybe that explains why i've been enjoying this so much.

wow, such edge! drug reference ep name. no ones ever done THAT before.

What is this - much prefer whatever this is....

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

I don't understand why he so quickly moves on from that nice pad bit @ 4:15 in Come Down To Us. The sitar (?) doesn't fit over there either.

I like these tracks more than his recent darker stuff, but I still think his first two albums are his best work.

Love the xmas bells though. Xmas cheese for the win. Never really understood the hate on xmas by people. Like someone said in this thread, cheese Burial is the best Burial.

its shit

Well mediocre EP. Nothing really that would make me want to go back to listen to it. Never really saw the Burial appeal anyway, apart from a couple of great tracks it's all pretty middle of the road. 4/10

However that Fact article, that.... that makes this whole EP worth it. Pure journalistic integrity right there. That resonated with me emotionally in a way Burial never could. Memories of heart ache, betrayal and sitting at your computer screen crying while masturbating and posting on messageboards, it's all there in that article, laid bare for all to see. Pure thought, feeling, emotion. 10/10

Missed this last night, Cant wait to get home from work and listen to it. Peoples terrible reactions to it has actual made me even more excited about this !

I don't know. That a lot of it sounds like half-assed demo tracks and that people for some reason like that? It's a mystery to me.

Foil are you for real?
