i'm not too familiar with a lot of hip hop things.

can you please post the craziest sounding, most psychedelic, lushest sounding hip hop you can think of in this thread, as means of recommendations from you to me/watmm?

i'm familiar with shadow huntaz but i never got too attached to that, for some reason (maybe i should try listening again?).

i'm thinking of things along these lines..

Haven't found much that I liked that has actual MCs. I love Chris De Luca's collab with 'Peabird':

Chris De Luca is one half of Funkstorung and they're quite good at the cut-up hip-hops:

Modeselektor's collabs with TTC are great as well:

I really dig J Dilla

His final album Donuts is very psychedelic in nature, keen on discovering new things every time I listen to it.

His protégé, Karriem Riggins dropped a very solid album last year

Nice to see Busdriver mentioned here. His Fear Of A Black Tangent -album is probably the best.

Shadow huntaz,

SKAM shop sent me this EP for free along with my last order, was it a mistake or a promo-stunt...?

@topic:

Sample-based, no real lyrics, but awesomely produced:

Same artist, different release, this time with lyrics, also very neat production:

And obv. Quasimoto

probably the darkest hip hop tune ever:

... and of course MF Doom and his colab with Madlib

There's a lot of Hip-Hop songs that have experimental aspects to them but not much Ccec out there (that I know of).

I was going to post PBO, he is a class-act. I still scratch my head as to why he seemingly called it quits in 2003.

Yeah, pity. He's fantastic, real potential. There's some other old stuff of his released under Ko-Wreck Technique, but I haven't heard it yet.

Fun Fact: There's a voice sampled on his Ghetto Blaster-Album, on the track Breakers Delight starting @ 0:44, that belongs to a friend of my cousin. It repeats throughout the track.

My cousin used to produce for a couple of very low-profile German Hip Hop bands in the 90s. I forgot the artist- and track-name this has been released under, but the bit that was sampled is the word "Witten" (a town in the German Ruhrgebiet, that big industrial area where they made all the tanks in WW2) and the original complete line says "Witten: Hip-Hops gutes Gewissen." ("Witten: Hip Hop's good conscience.") - this is especially odd because my cousin had never heard of PBO, yet somehow PBO must have gotten hold of these old German Hip Hop tapes and decide to sample this funny sounding word. And I just happened to buy the Ghetto Blaster CD about a year ago and copy the music to my cousin, which lead him to call me at 2 a.m. and ask me where I got it from and who this PBO guy was who was using his sample.

Ha, awesome! Not that low-profile after all apparently. I'm a noob when it comes to German rap and hip hop, and he didn't tell me much about it either.

Now that I compare the two tracks, I'm not even a hundred percent sure this is the same sample PBO used, maybe they just sound very similar. But my cousin swears it is, and it's not as unlikely for PBO to have that release as I thought.

Also check out the PBO project Ko-wreck technique. The track "behavior" shares a sample with irlite get-0, the knocking sounds.
