i deleted track 3

the other vocal samples are freshasfuck though.

this is true, using auto-tune band passed vocals in 2007 is some of the freshest shit i've heard in my lifetime

something truly wonderful

this album blows my mind.

i don't care how simple it seems, sometimes the simplest things can be the most beautiful.

You can't see a comparison between Gorgon Sound (second track I posted) and say Archangel, or Ghost Hardware?

Get your ears checked out then...and also check out a history book or two. since the horsepower production boys and tempa records basically started using the term dubstep...

Of course there's similarities between Horsepower and Burial, just like there can be similarities between Aphex and 808 State or Dam-Funk and Prince. What's different between both of those two examples is the new take they put on the genre. So no, Burial's style is not original, but he put a very good twist on a genre that at the time was considered bland and boring to most (not me! ).

But yeah, Horsepower reminds me 2562 a lot more than Burial, but then again, I don't think Burial should be thought of as dubstep :squarepusher:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't dubstep originally about the reverbed samples and the UK garage beats, just like in Burial's music? It's just the genre evolved into wobble bass tunes, no?

Yeah I'll agree, Burial does sound kinda like how dubstep sounded in the beginning stages. I'll say that he shouldn't be lumped in with today's dubstep sound :squarepusher:

@kaini: that artful dodger tune came out the year I was living in the UK. Fucking massive, it was all over the place.

I never discredited them, and I'm not saying Burial is completely original. I just don't hear the similarities as a whole. Again, I think it's Martyn and maybe 2562 that borrow heavily from their sound:

true, but burial would not exist without horsepower, and also people like photek

yeah sure martyn and 2562 have more of a straight-ahead 2-step/garage sound, but there is a definite influence on Burial. All of them came out around 2005 with their respective debuts right?

2007. Martyn had been around before, but back then he was only doing Drum N Bass. He didn't make the move to dubstep/garage until the Broken/Shadowcasting 12".
