A1 and B1 of q chastic come to mind immediately.

Then all of the drill n bass stuff is just derivative of the amen. IE HAB, parts of rdj album etc.

Edit: also lol I've never heard that run the place red song, thanks for that mr.

derivative isn't what I'm talking about. I'm talking about using the actual sample. I thought that's what's meant by the phrase 'using the amen break'?

I am pro amen. sorry snobs.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

I'm not a snob; I just think it's been played out. Move on to another fucking break!

At the moment I can only remember these two where he used the amen:

[youtubehd]pauHspEM3ls[/youtubehd]

he uses a couple of amen hits in wabby legs

and i think he uses an amen for the glitchy rushes in the latter half of afx237v.7?

definitely sounds like part of the amen at 2:03

PM me for them. There's over 100 of them... really cool to see how he made some of his older tracks. You'll need OpenMPT to view the files. Can dl here http://openmpt.org/download

I went on a huge breakcore binge some years ago, honestly I think the genre died out because it was done to death and truthfully there's only a handful of artists that actually managed to be innovative with the sound. VSnares obviously being one of the more innovative, and I hate to say it but even now I've grown tired of some of his work, and even the better stuff of his I definitely have to be in the mood for. I don't feel there's enough left to offer within the genre for it to make a full comeback.

Yep its coming back. Loot at people like Andy Stott or on the other hand upcoming UK dance music producers like Tessela, Special Request... A lot of breakcore / hardcore samples, breaks and formula is used here in interesting new ways... Also the whole EDM thing happening - rave and hardcore are essential inspiration for these bullshit tunes ...

Check my dusty tunes and mixes over here: https://soundcloud.com/2kn

Aren't the UK artists you mention primarily informed by the original hardcore and jungle sounds from the early 90s, rather than the breakcore of the early to mid-00s?

To me breakcore was too gimmicky to be sustainable, and the sound got old real fast. I don't think it will come back in any significant way, artistically nor popularly.

yeah but the original post was on about Hardcore recently having lots of breakcore type elements. As I said on page 1 this kinda stuff is quite different to breakcore, Anyone feeling any of the Crossbreed hardcore stuff though?

I don't know the other two mentioned but I don't hear any breakcore in Andy Stott at all... jungle maybe, but not breakcore

Demdike Stares collision of the 1st Test Pressing EP does sound quite breakcore, it came on randomly in the car and to start with i thought it was the start of a hardcore mix i had on there!
