most people do have faces they deserve, though there are certainly some babyface killers out there. I have one Asian acquaintance who has this round, dimple-cheeked, smiley face but is a completely manipulative asshole.

Zaphod, have you ever read Operators and Things? I think you'd make a skilled hook operator. Not really in a bad way, but with an edge when you want it.

That's fair. I've been thinking a lot about that book and I think hooks can be neutral or even good for the person they're used on. I'm thinking of hooks here as a symbol for finding someone's motivation. Sometimes I think you try to win an argument emotionally rather than with facts, which is what I was getting at. But I have no way of knowing if you're a corporate cutthroat, and that's not what I wanted to imply.

definitely true, at least on this forum. but keep in mind, watmm is not a social outlet for me, more of a way to entertain and distract myself from actual, real things i'm supposed to be doing. some of which are intellectually rigorous. i like hopping on board the argument train just to see what kind of reaction i can get and to find out just how strong a person's convictions really are. though it's also often laziness on my part because i can't be bothered to actually, you know, research things. if you guys want facts about political economy in the middle east, i guess we can talk. but this is the internet after all and probably 95 percent of my posts are made with one hand fondling my dick while i switch back and forth between eighteen tabs of streaming porn.

also not sure i was arguing in this thread. i suppose my statement is kind of insulting toward lumpenprol, but i'd like to clarify. i think you can read emotions from a face, obviously, and it's a cute quote to say at dinner parties, but i don't think any insight can really be gleaned from someone's facial structure or "the lines around their eyes" or whatever. i think that's kind of dangerous and involves lots of personal projection and bias. best to judge someone from their actions, not how they look. but then, lumpy was probably saying that with tongue firmly in cheek and here i am, taking it seriously.

It's more subtle than that, first you have to figure out which continent that they hail from. Then you get measuring and interpret your results in light of that.
