Do you think they're purposely trying to make youtube worse?

afaik i usually place all my cum drops on scientifically sterilized glass slides which are carefully frozen and placed in trash cans throughout the city labelled "for women ❤️ alco" with my social security and phone numbers.

2007 was YT's golden year. Beyond that has been steady decline.

To keep it real and analog, I'm gonna start posting to WATMM by writing my posts in fountain pen on hemp paper, putting them in bottles, and throwing them into the ocean.

I can still find joy in certain things on there, but commenting is no longer fun. But there are good things, like Alan's channel, and this guy:

I think it really went off with the comment system update last year. It was a total fuck up.

*And the google + thing too.

Less than a week! I can't listen to this track enough! I wake up in the middle of the night with it in my head. I love Aphex! I'm so excited. I've checked this god-4-saken website everyday for fucking YEARS with NO news and we're so close! Holy Shit! Oh my god! Anybody else feel like this everyday? Can't wait to hear that METZ track in HD glory! My speakers and headphones have no idea what they are about to be put through! Fanboy I am! BRING IT ALREADY!

let the comments sections burn and keep the videos.

like for fuck's sake if i have to read another post comparing whatever the fuck music video i'm watching to whatever the fuck pop star is most popular at hte moment i'm going to just die. JUST DIE.

Social Networks pretty much fucked up the internet. I like to interact with other people on the Internet, but it all gets messy when your real life gets tangled up in the wired (safe for a few people). The great, big fun about the internet is that it's anonymous. Plastering your name and face to it forces you to act socially desirable, and puts a filter on the one thing that the internet was a playground for; unfiltered opinion.

I hope social networks die a slow, painful death. I think we're already seeing that, though. I'd say that in 5 years social networks will not be as prominent as they are today. On to a cyberpunk future!

Also, what didn't help either was the great influx of unconventional internet people; I'm going to quote Shadowwolf's e-zine now, because he describes the matter amply.

  Quote
Difficult to imagine now
but doing this felt like the most exciting thing in the world, surrounded
by a mystique of hacker romanticism and being a cyberpunk pioneer. It
was a time when your mum and retarded jock cousin weren't on the internet,
even more hardcore...you were probably the only person in your whole town or
area logged into cyberspace!

The internet has changed, simply because the internet is made up of a different crowd than it was back in the day. In true nostalgia fashion I am going to say that the glorious early days (which I wasn't even part of) are gone. Now we have marginalized views, which used to be reserved for the crowd that didn't surf Internet, and which they force yet upon us.

I do foresee a great upheaval in the coming years, where the youth which has grown up using the internet reclaims their throne. Or maybe it's going to be other way around, where we will experience a great social revolution as a response to the social upheaval on the internet?

Meh, I'm talking out of my appendix. Gotta scoot now.

When the fuck was the comment system ever any good on youtub?

All that comment system has ever been since its inception is spam, racist shite and ignorance.

They should follow dispy's advice: let the comment section burn in eternal damnation and keep the videos.

I saw someone's youtube comment for a new moog synth demo in my g+ feed. I'll bet he didn't intend it to be there, plus stuff like this would just add to the volume of content filling up the feed. Will they then start pushing algorithms in our face to curate the news that we see, rather than just giving us the naked feed? I wonder if it even let him choose which circles saw the comment as this would stab at the heart of what made g+ any good in the first place, being able to filter what you put out there to different audiences?

Can you imagine if everything we wrote on the net got dumped in our g+. delet... wrote on watmm, "ijbadfibsdvkpiushdvjsjdvujhsdvjnsdjv fucking google oajsbnfubsdjnsjdnfgjsdf". Oh my.

Also, it keeps wanting me to post on youtube under my real name and only let me keep the name i had been using because it was 'an artist name'. Despite this it keeps asking if i want to change, fucks sake. Maybe all this is to moderate people's posting behaviour on the net. It's not just so that they've got a one stop spying snapshot of who you are on the web.

yes, i think they are.

and you cant even customize your channel anymore its all just a white blank page...

really stupid

Fuck the comments, I was talking about the replay button or skipping ahead which dont work at all now. And the fact that the playlist has a fucking scroll on it instead of just being embedded down the side.

Its all too fucking busy, bring back the static shit.

Fuck the comments,

word, I scrolled all the way down to type this but you did, AWESOME.

my biggest gripe is that the actual video player functionality/UI seemingly changes like once a week?

or are there just a dozen different versions of the player somehow? it's insane.

it also does this really stupid thing where it tries to dynamically switch the resolution to fit bandwidth or whatever AND IT NEVER WORKS.

so here's how I am watching youtube videos now:

You guys are getting angry about youtube. Does is still allow you to watch almost everything? Oh really, yes it does. That's still pretty good then

Nah man, several videos just come up with errors or dont buffer beyond a certain point. I just dont get the whole "its not broken but lets fuck with anyway approach"

Youtube comments were a continuous single blind study for me. I honestly enjoyed the typos, the struggles at expression, the short tempers and misconstrusions, the racism. Ah, the racism.

When someone leaves a comment that is such a cruel and unfathomable insult, but is masked with a good bit of wit -- I miss that textual voyeurism. I miss thinking of a comment you know will get 300 thumbs up and watching it happen.

It was a 24/7 battle royale of illiterate housewives, 12 year olds who say, "Hey I'm 12 and I think this music is awesome," truthers, neonazis, Oprah lackeys, and a few people like me who were happy to sit back and watch with some spare interjection.

This is the youtube that was lost. There is also this: http://sadyoutube.com/

I've blocked the youtube caching IP ranges, or whatever they are (sorry first graveyard back from hols brain no workee) using the firewall. This means i get non-pausing/stopping 1080 video stream, direct from google. ISPs around the world have been using these IPs as a way to, argh, what's the word for diminishing traffic.

nwae, look it up.

I believe adblock will block YouTube comments.

I have ABP installed, and while it does a great job of blocking ads in the actual videos (meaning playlists actually work), I must be missing the setting for disabling comments. Any hints?

I generally don't have a problem with pausing (though at peak times it can be annoying. However this 1080p video stream sounds intriguing. More info?

I had a quick look through my links when i was writing that post but couldn't find it. I'll do a net search for you.

ok these are the IP ranges that i have blocked in my firewall. (you'd think i would have just looked there first, lool).

173.194.55.0/24
206.111.0.0/16

Now by IP range it means you block from 173.194.55.0 to 173.194.55.24 and the same for the second range.

This cleared my problem up straight away. I think that new IP ranges have been added in the intervening time, but i haven't been noticing drop-outs at all or been having to reload pages with any frequency since then. Importantly, it is not blocking 1080.
