I've been hammering this album recently. It's incredible.

It really is. I have a real thing for some of the prog stuff from the late sixties and early seventies.

 

Edit: It's all good Modey. I'm relatively new to King Crimson, I understand that I have an exciting time ahead as I check out more of their albums.

killing joke are/were so damn gooood

especially that first album! still blows my mind. and they were all like 19 when they made it.

"rock" is a huge category of music, obviously. I find that while I enjoy many styles of it, the stuff I love the most is still older tunes, especially classic punk/post-punk material. those styles of music half-dominated my taste for a long time, alongside electronic music.

Stranglers were probably the ballsiest band of that era. more than the Pistols, more than anyone. they used keys at a time and scene in which it was considered unfashionable, but you can't fault them for it. and that snarly bass sound they had was just awesome.

this live version of No More Heroes is even more awesome. (you know a band is class when they sound even better live than on the record.)

 

they used a clip of this performance in 24 Hr Party People, when they were showcasing up-and-coming bands of that time.
