Guest
I'm curious to try that out to hear what you're hearing. Are you hearing something that would be a 5% to 10% improvement? I ask because I had done some similar A/B comparison with Avid's Heat and I didn't really consider the difference to be significant enough for the price. I would have given it maybe a 3% improvement. But I was comparing television mixes as opposed to music mixes.Plus, some engineers and I have fooled ourselves with psycho-acoustics. We have a Rosendahl master clock which was revered by a number of engineers saying that it would give more clarity to mixes. However, they would say how much better it is when they were unaware that they were using the 96IO's internal clock the whole time.I tend to put more importance on monitors, monitor placement, room treatment, and mixing level than the more subtle improvements mentioned here. spunktronics
I don't think it's a case of improvement as apposed to a different colour? if i get time soon i will go thru the same process Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/82454-avid-is-dying-a-slow-and-painful-death/page/3/#findComment-2136730 Share on other sites

Sometimes different doesn't necessarily mean better. Yes, you can shift tracks to compensate for the 'delay compensation' which is kind of tedious. But if you change any plug-ins in the chain, which might change the delay amount, you need to readjust the track you shifted. The older TDM systems are still slaves to the maximum 4096 sample delay comp, but the Native, HD Native and HDX systems can go up to 16383 samples which is plenty when mixing. I think they upped the delay comp starting with Pro Tools 9.
