aphex twin live - promoters still attempting to book him

this was a comment thread for Movement electronic music festival (formerly known as Detroit electronic music festival) when they announced this year's lineup. I think I'm more bummed knowing that the issue is him not wanting to play (at least in the US) rather than promoters not trying to book him....although it doesn't really surprise me. Hopefully he makes his way back to the US one day.

He was doing an heap of shows for ages, then stopped. It has been speculated that this was due to him being in album do mode. If this is the case, i'm sure you can forgive him for not wanted to go to detroit.

He took out his handy dandy calculator, calculated how much money he wants divided by how much he makes per show to get how many shows he needed to play. There, set for all life. No more Aphex. He will be living on the moon. Last man in SPAAAAAAAAAAAaaaace....

in interview he said that he's tired of playing live, he also want to play more experimental gigs but no one wants to fund it

They need to offer something more lucrative, like Hit Anything snare rush sexbots

Richard's just waiting for the day he can send his "aphex TWIN" android out on tour and watch the money roll in...

/decides that he would rather not pay to see richard's yee olde android band so doesn't book a ticket for when it comes through town. But then dleetr finds that his android has booked a ticket for him so now he has to go. Apparently it made a facsimile of my visa card and used the virtual currency that that produces thanks to the fractional reserve system to pay for my attendance at the drill and bass drumline puppet show.

The future music show i went to annoyed me a lot, the music clashed against my ears as i didn't like the choice of hip hop and i don't like gabba. The rest was a mish mash of whatever, and then he'd get into a bit that made my mind dance and it would divert into blarg again (the light show was quite something though). The time i saw him with vibert was pretty fucking funky. Ar well i'm sure the people that went to listen to a festival filled with mediocre dance music found it fascinating. I'm jealous of the people that heard him at bang face.

He probably has a thousand or so unreleased tracks. Lets take Mike P, for example, who apparently had to go through a couple thousand unreleased tracks to compile Somerset Ave. Tracks.

Surely Aphex has a similar if not even higher amount. Albeit, probably only 10-15 songs per album worth (presuming 15 tracks each album) are actually WORTH releasing.

We could make up figures all night I suppose haha.

As an example, I've got 558 completed tracks. And I'm absolutely nobody and make shitty music.

I stuck my finger in the air and it told me the twins only have four unreleased tracks and none of them are any good.

his gig with Hecker at Melt festival a few years ago was pretty good! Really enjoyed it.

When does Aphex Gin come out?

If I was in afx position, id probly groom some proteges who could take scribbled notes and create armatures and frameworks later to which might be fit for the branding. Like Jeff joins and Damien Hirst, Warhol, wycleff, all the greats have assistance. Mozart had sussmeyer, imhotep had some slaves, just sayin.

Maybe that's who the Spanish teenager Steinvord is .....

i imagine he's been doing this, maybe with jodey kendrick or dave monolith. some youtube tutorials would be cool though.

Do you honestly think any of those numbers are anything more than hyperbole? I highly doubt Richard has "albums" any more than BOC has pre-Twoism releases... they are just loose collections of tracks that *could* be pulled together to make an album, but in their current state probably aren't.
