Lol I just read the synopsis of rifkin's "zero marginal cost society". He contends that capitalism will remain with us as well as more of a move toward increasing communal use of resources.

So it's great that we're sharing cars and stuff, but ultimately, resources will be needed to manufacture those. If you think wealth inequality is bad now, just imagine what will happen when ownership of resources is ultra-concentrated.

Additionally, part of rifkin's thesis is that everyone turns over their information to big data. Privacy issues not withstanding,what happens when a data center gets infected with a virus and fucks up all your info?

once control is ultimately concentrated it should be dead simple to extract that control and disperse it in new patterns. kings man. kings.

Yeah that particular revolution sure changed things didn't it...

In reference to prisons, criminals most likely just need biofeedback, psychedelic therapy, and better support structure. But you know, it's insane for us to think about employing these devices yet sentencing someone to be executed by the state is reasonable.

While I agree, and I'm not a fan of the death penalty... you do realize how short sighted saying that all they need is those three things. It's much, much deeper than that.

I do think that people who murder multiple people without any sign of guilt are fucked, and I don't know what to do with them, but if you've ever been around intensely violent people, there is really not that much aside from breaking their psyche and lobotomizing the human that was to create something 'normal'

Some people are just fucked from the beginning, and it's hard for us humans to understand that. Some people just are bad eggs. It happens.
