Tend to agree. Though I suppose they've been there and done that with regards to tracks like arch carrier. Still, I think they've been there and done that with the experimental retarded percussion stuff too. I definitely am itching for some kind of change in direction from them; the path they're on now hints at boring shit to come. I wouldn't mind some abstract noise ambient sort of like their hafler trio collab. And then maybe some focus on gut-wrenching ambient melodies. I've got it all planned out for them.

I tend to think they won't soon return to making truly engaging melodies though, since it's probably not as interesting technically.

But yeah, arch carrier is my second favorite track, behind vletrmx21.

LP5 is my favorite, but yes, it is a case of "been there done that". I'm glad they haven't rehashed themselves or I would get bored of them, and we wouldn't have masterpieces like EP7 and Confield.

That said, an ambient album with all the cool production stuff they have learned would be really appreciated.

Fantastic track, incredible atmosphere, but it always bugs me the way the strings cuts out after 3:48

the high pitched noises in this annoy me sometimes, but when I focus on the bassier elements and the chord progression, yes, it's a thumper

This is my favourite Ae track of all time. It's simply stunning, I thought I was the only one that liked it so much (most people favour drane2 if anything on that album). The arpeggiation and harmonies are simply gorgeous. Autechre can still carry the melodies (see the start of Surripere, the first 5 of which are akin to Arch Carrier in terms of quality for me), it'd be nice if they exploited their talents more with less experimental style...

arch carrier is the best, and then RAE. rae is amazing. I'd like drane2 a lot more but it has that silence at the end for the sake of hidden crap and that always really annoys me. It's a great track though.

I agree with everyone almost, Arch Carrier is an incredible track. I also agree that the strings cut way too early.

However I must be one of the few that thinks Rae is one of the weaker tracks on LP5. It's a great track sure , but I dunno, maybe I've just heard it too many times. Drane2 fucking rules also, like you said though, that silence pisses me off too.

love how rae bottles itself down into a slower, down tempo rythme from the initial fast drum chop. arch carrier is a classic great track but no new ground was broken. sounded alot like 444 to me on how it progresses. i think vose in & fold4, wrap5 take the cake on lp5.

Arch Carrier could have been one of AE's best, but it climaxes half way through and just goes "meh". The very end is a little cool though. But it just really loses it after the best part of the song goes. btw, Under BOAC > anything on LP5 by a longshot. I'm just not a huge fan of this album

Some of the best melodies Ive ever heard in electronic music. But it starts to sound a little too random and poops out by the end.

Heueuhhuhuehheh you were WRONG fool.

Brings back a lot of memories from me from 98/99. The world is truly a different place now. There of ghosts of this kind of thing in Oversteps IMO. Also: is this track in Mono? I can switch back and forth between mono and stereo on my interface and it is basically the same.
