He will read this thread and talk about watmm in an unflattering manner on twitter like all real men do.

But did he get RDJ to open his vault? Fuck no. Only in his wet dream, son.

U c what i did there 8-)

Yah, as previously noted, I've always felt that Mr. Benn Jordan was basically a clone-artist who really didn't have much to say. Overall, emotionally sterile; like a sociopath trying oh so hard to emulate the emotions of those who can actually feel (but superficial production wise, outstanding). That being said, I feel he is sincere. Due to his sincerity, I don't think he's a hack. And these samples off his new album are good. In 10 years, I feel ze underground masses might actually feel that he is- artistically- what he feels he's always been.

But serious kudos to him, though. "From the beginning", it's pretty apparent that he's been chock full of determination and willingness to make his dreams a reality, which is part of the essence of IDM Superstar lifestyle that most in the scene are not willing to live up to. While I feel his output is nowhere near as emotionally and deeply expressive as someone like Squarepusher, he definitely deserves his "critical acclaim", cuz he's worked like a muthafucka for it.

I've noticed this about a lot of musicians. I usually get this vibe from virtuoso guitarists whose main appeal is their chops. Always technically skilled but it's like they are missing the part of their brain that tells them when something is incredibly cheesy, hokey and just in bad taste.

There's usually no awareness of how their music is presented, like album covers, song titles, etc. just missing any sense of individual style or flair to adorn the showcase of their technique. I think of them as plastic "artists". But if it works for them then cool I suppose.

This is just one of those things, huh... "You can never know it, until you know it." Like I could very well be severely mentally retarded, thinking I'm interacting normally in life (or even at high level), but I really could never know... I could come up with physics theories and inventions that change the world for the better- traveling the world and giving high profile lectures- but it could turn out that I was just scribbling with crayon on my face and drooling, people petting me for being a good boy and shitting less in my pants.

Just like Benn Jordan-- I CAN NEVER KNOW!!!!!

In that sense, I don't know whether to feel sorry for plastic artists, or to question my own sense of taste. ...Yah, I should probably question myself. Forever.

The bulb is 10 steps ahead of the game and we can't even see through our BoCAphexCeephax goggles that his music is highly conceptual and meta and allegorical. He's like "what if Joe Satriani was actually Autechre the whole time and Autechre is really Yngwie Malmsteen?" I totally prefer Buckethead though. He's da man. He probably Aphex actually. You follow?

This. I think he needs a brutal, savvy muse in his life who will not allow him to release things with titles like "Love as a Dark Hallway" and maybe inject some more complicated feels into his life for him to draw from.

You are onto some hi-level shit. Flashbulb can be rearranged to Bashflubl=Bash Flub-L. Flub=to blunder. So, Bash Blunder-L, which is referring to bashing the blunder of L-event, so basically Benn Jordan was criticizing an Autechre release FOURTEEN YEARS before its release. Taking that into consideration- and related to what you wrote- I imagine his track titles are stabs at shit the underground doesn't even know exists yet. For example, I've been running some algorithms on his track titles based on this fact, which has turned up the next Aphex Twin album to be titled "Gew 4 Gwinzal", which apparently is Cornish for something like "Toilet For Fans".

Lol.

I don't dislike Benn's music. There are some tracks he has made that are really nice and up there with the greats of the IDMz... but I

cringe when I hear him naming his album 'hardscrabble' and making jokes about watmm being lame. It's way more lame to actually care about us lame-wads enough to make jokes or bitch on twitter... thus making him double lame. I know he works hard on his music, but sometimes it's just so wanky and emotionally insincere that I feel like anyone out of their teenage angst phase wouldn't be into.
