yeah get ramires in there for some bite, and maybe willian too for some pace and legs.

It's a shame that the game is decided on a penalty of this kind, but you just don't use hands like this, especially with a japanese referee in an opening game against hosts.

Errm, if the Japanese ref was truly strict, there would have been a lot more calls. Also, well done generalizing the Japanese as only capable of following the laws directly to the letter and not being able to interpret things differently. Putting this on the nationality of the referee is fucking ridiculous.

yep him and perisic were outstanding tonight.

The Fred penalty was very soft. Yes there was a hand on the shoulder and so you can understand why a ref might give it, but it's disappointing to see such a soft pen given in such a big game, to the home team and then to disallow a fair challenge on Julio Cesar. The was a clear homer unfortunately for Croatia. They were pretty decent tonight and could well get through in 2nd place.

Modric was disappointing though.
