Depends on the artist / label, surely? Lots of DIY microlabels out there who do do great work for artists who are completely unknown. Speaking for myself, it's nice to 50 - 100 copies when I only end up selling 10 - 20 of my self-released stuff.

Also it's a shame that the best previews (D4, imo) are the one ending up on tape, which is the least reliable media source of the 3

I am actually a huge fan of the 1997 online sale structure. I accidentally sent them £40 instead of £23 and they refunded me the £17 almost immediately. No worries.

Probably because Bandcamp takes a 15% cut on physical, 10% on digital (From what I recall). Cutting out the middle man seems to be what this is all about.
